ee cummings is my favorite poet, so obviously I'm a little biased. But if you love poetry you'll appreciate cummings' unique style, emotion, thought process and expression that will make you think about what his writing means for days on end. I've tried to illustrate his poems, never doing them any justice, but it's a fun exercise in understanding what he felt when writing. If you're knew to ee I would suggest reading one of his poems, just one... flip through the book and pick any single one of them, then you'll know what I mean.

Love is a Dog From Hell captures Bukowski's considerable talent for capturing a mood and throwing the reader into his world. This is an excellent edition of modern poetry that perfectly captures the degenerated angst of the period. What is particularly striking here is Bukowski's acute awareness of the decay that surrounds him. Billy Collins is the most accessible of poets. People who "like" poetry but never actually read it will readily become addicted to him. I would start with "The Lanyard" or "The Revenant." You won't be able to put the book down.

My kids, ages 9 & 11, love this book (as well as the previous Frankenstein Makes a Sandwich). And, well, so do I. In fact, with that first book, we laughed so hard we started coughing and had to put the book aside for few minutes to catch our breath. This newest book did't incite quite the same reaction but it is still worth the price for the illustrations alone. The rhymes don't flow as smoothly as before but heck, it's so fun just to look at the book (there's a lot to see, even in the end papers) that I couldn't bear to give it less than 5 stars. Keep it up, Mr. Rex...two kids (and a mom) here in California think you ROCK!
