Great book that covers all the Interstate Highways and loads of information of what is coming up on a trip. Such as restaurants, gas stations, hospitals,rest areas etc. I have a GPS, but this is great if you just watch the miles markers or better still if you have a person in the right seat to keep up with how far you are from town or you hotel or destination. I highly recommend it to anyone who uses the Interstate sytems for travel. It would be great for bikers to have a meeting place ahead of time. For instance you could look and find Cracker Barrel, find out what exit it is and on which side of the road it is located on and pass it on to your fellow bikers.

I'm planning to take my two teenagers cross country this summer and this is a GREAT book for finding interesting places to show them. It has excellent maps, clear directions, and well-written descriptions of what you will (and won't) see so I can figure out what sites will best entertain the different family members. I only wish we had time to see more of the places they describe. It even tells you what other nearby attractions there are. Kudos to the authors!

We are in the process of looking at colleges for our son. A friend recommended this book and I am so glad she did. The amount of information on thousands of colleges and universities is unbelievable. The CD that comes with the book really helps to narrow done your choices. On the CD you can enter different search catagories like: major, location, size of student body, cost, etc. The program then produces a list to fit your criteria.

As a big fan of well-written obituaries (like those in the New York Times) I am always looking for more pungently penned death notices. This collection of obits from the Economist was right up my alley. They never published obits prior to 1995 so they are making up for lost time. They only publish one per week so they are ultra-selective. There are plenty of famous deaths marked in this book. I prefer those that honor people we might have never heard of, like Jean Baudrillard the philosopher of consumerism, Christopher Cockerell, the inventor of the hovercraft, and Rene' Thom the inventor of catastrophe theory. A very useful referance book for every coin collector. Every collector MUST have this catalog Also the CD at the inner page of the back cover was a very nice surprise. Now I will carry a 25 grams of catalog instead of a 2½ kilos during my trips. regards

If you do a lot of reading or any writing;you can't get far without a good Dictionary to start with;then you'll also need a good Thesaurus to follow through.But, which of the many to choose? I have several of each,but this one is different,and I will probably keep it handy because it will serve my purposes ,most of the time.I know ,at times it will not meet all my needs;but in those cases,I can turn to the bigger ones. Unlike many college guides, this one presents students' impressions of their campuses as well as the most pertinent statistics and facts about each school. This makes for a good read, one that high school students should find user friendly and engaging. This shouldn't be the only guide that students refer to, but it goes a long way in personalizing the whole college search process and helping students discover which attributes are important to them in deciding where they will feel most comfortable during their college years.

A necessary resource when searching for colleges. Information is concise and to the point. Coverage seems exhaustive, but the omission of Rutgers in New Jersey is curious.
