It took me many chapters to get past the horrific writing. I felt like the author had her thesaurus sitting open next to her the entire time she was writing this. So painful to read. But then she hooked me and I couldn't put it down. The writing improves in book 2, hope the trend continues...

It was priced around $7 something at Walmart so I bought it. I read the Twilight not too long ago so I decided to read on. Here is my take on this book and the series upto this 2nd book. Let me tell you all that this book is, indeed, for Young Adults (primarily teenage girls). I am NOT going to call it flawed but I must admit that story and characters are not to my liking. I say this because most likely that I became desensitized and cynical from having to 'live' my life through thick and thin. I just don't have the life or death passion in everything I come across as I used to when I was a teenager. However, I don't think this book is bad for younger readers. I could not STAND Jacob in this book. Really could not. I agree with the poster who said: "reading 'Eclipse' (specifically towards the end) was like having a bucket of cold water thrown on me. I was just like, "HUH?!?". 'Eclipse', in my opinion, skews and betrays the true and pure love that Edward and Bella have, and the millions of fans who fell in love with those 2 wonderful, refreshing characters in 'Twilight'." Exactly how I felt. I read this books for the unbreakable love between Bella and Edward which Stephenie Meyer clearly portrayed in Twilight. With each installment, that love seems to get muddies and trampled more and more. Toward the end, I was feeling better about it and really looked forward to the next book.

I made the mistake of reading a lot of the reviews of this novel before it finally arrived in the mail. The conclusion I've come to is this: If you are fully engrossed in this saga, then Breaking Dawn will be a book you'll really enjoy. If you are of the mindset who read the stories in this series very critically and you are looking for things wrong, then that is all you will find. I enjoyed this read. I liked the changes in the characters and the atmosphere. Meyer's writing was much tighter too. Even the ending wasn't as poorly done as so many have alluded to. My only wish is that the book didn't end. There is so much potential for more stories here and I hope Meyer will continue forward in that regard. I was very interested in this years presidential race, because of the problems that this country faces. Back when the candidates were first vying for position, it was exciting to watch who was rising to the top. At the beginning I didn't think Mr. Obama had much of a chance being that he was young, unknown, inexperienced, etc. The more that I listen to him talk on the TV and the radio the more I become convince that this was the person, out of all the others, who had the character and the savvy to lead and remake this United States of America into a country that we all can be proud of again. The book helped me get into his mind and way of thinking a bit. A very fast and insightful read. I'd heard a lot about this book and decided to buy it. It is a great fictional book about the character "Mack" and his fictional relationship with God. If you like fiction, it's a fun read. If you're looking for an inspiring book and a deeper walk with God, you may want to consider the book entitled "The Enlightenment, What God Told Me after One Million Prayers: A Message for Everyone" by John H. Eagan. I could see by the reviews here that many people are struggling with their faith and have many difficult questions about God. If this is your problem, then "The Enlightenment" is your answer. This book, like The Shack," will also make you cry but in a deeper and truer sense, once you discover the great love that is waiting for you, through John's enlightenment.

This of course, was the third time I've read a Gladwell book that set my mind to pondering. It rarely matters whether you agree with the things he says, but that his incredibly interesting ideas force you to consider their plausibility. I will state for the record, I was absolutely Not a fan of the Asian indictment (Look at my maiden-name/picture). However, I didn't find it offensive, but instead found it to be a typical issue with his ideas. They're often incredibly provocative, but rarely convincingly substantiated. Having said that however, that's the big reason we love his ideas, he's suggesting possibilities. Whether he presents them that simply is another matter, but the result is the same either way.
