Mr. O'Reilly tells an account of past events in his life. The book is for entertainment. I enjoyed reading it.

From the first page, this author grabbed me and I couldn't stop reading. I wanted to feel sorry for the family, but never once did I get the impression that they felt sorry for themselves. From struggle to success these kids are all surviors. My heart went out to them all during the book. I would recommend this book to all of my friends.

The Brady Bunch aired from 1969-1974, when Maureen was 13-18 years old. The Brady Bunch was a wildly successful show that ran on Friday nights--I know, I looked forward to it every week. McCormick struggles most of her life because of her role as "Marcia, Marcia, Marcia." This book is not what you expect! I love Clinton Kelly on What Not to Wear, but that is not this Clinton. This book is a mess! It's a stream-of-consciousness commentary on whatever Clinton happens to be interested in. The style of writing is very witty, but that is not enough for a whole book. To give you an idea of what's inside: there are 48 pages of Fashion advice. That's it. The rest of what you're buying is 21 pages of grammar advice, 33 pages of etiquette, 47 pages of recipes, etc. (Clinton is not a chef.) There are nice pictures, but the subjects - a full page picture of hollandaise sauce on meat, a full page picture of a roast chicken, a full page picture of a French omelet. You get the idea. This book is extremely well written and easy to understand. It makes you believe that you can write a screenplay and it shows you exactly how to do it.

I grew up watching little "Barbara Cooper" on One Day at a Time like many did so I was looking forward to the read to get "the dish." Even when Valerie married Eddie (which seemed like such an odd couple to me back then) and got into the height of her weight insecurities, I still thought she was a perfect size. I wasn't a huge VH fan but my husband was and we both thought she gave good insight into what Eddie was thinking at different incarnations of the band. Even though the theme of weight/self esteem issues were found throughout, it wasn't overly done. For emotional eaters, we can relate. The only thing holding me back from giving it 5 stars is I wished she would've waited for a year after she got to her goal weight to write this.
