I recommend this book for anyone who is looking for a story that has a lot of twists and they can escape into. It made me laugh, cry, everything. I loved it. At first I was a little iffy because I was just so surprised. I guessed that Bella would end up deciding the fight against the Volturi with her shields since the second book but Nessie came as a surprise, but a good one. I also thought Bella's reaction to being pregnant was very Bella. She's such a selfless person and she loves so completely. I also liked seeing Edward and her through Jake's eyes. They're flawed and i liked seeing it, I liked getting annoyed with them and I liked that this book had a satisfying ending. I seriously don't get what everyone's problem is with this book. Awesome book! I couldn't put it down - read whole book in two sittings. Have purchased other three books in set and am just finishing up book 3. Stephanie Meyers is a terrific author.

As an atheist, I just want to say...wow. Is that the best you've got? The blurb on the cover says "THE SHACK will leave you craving for the presence of God." Genuinely curious, and with an open mind, I started reading. So you get four chapters of folksy family fun, culminating in what appears to be a shocking murder -- these scenes are rendered well enough, and I (the father of a young girl myself) felt the protagonist's anguish well enough to keep reading. Then, abruptly and with a deafening grinding of gears, the book veers off into the weeds, where it remains firmly wedged for the balance of its page-count. Ponderous and inpenetrable, jargon-heavy and utterly lacking in anything resembling a narrative, it's sort of like a cross between a Thomas Kinkade ... Read More

Putting down on paper all your hopes, dreams, regrets and life story is a challenge in itself. But to do it facing terminal illness is all the more amazing. This is a very special story -- it includes not just the "lecture" that Randy gave, but also back story about each section. I'm surprised at some of the negative reviews, i.e. "I'd buy this book if it's proceeds were given to a charity." That is shallow. Read this book if you dare -- it forces you to think about your own life, your own challenges, your dreams, your own "time" that we all take for granted. I commend not just Randy but his whole inner circle for writing & agreeing to this book; in particular, I honor Jai for her ability to open her door & heart as Randy's death unfolded. Having read most of Ann Rice's books, I experienced how the Vampire books got from good and erotic to verbose and boring. Ms. Stephanie Meyer is unfortunately the later version of Ms. Rice. I believe that the audience Ms. Meyer is witting for is high school girls, which might explain her poor performance. Bella's story takes off from the first book. After causing havoc in Edwards family over her human blood, Edward decides to break up with Bella. We go on for what seems to be an eternity on how sad she is. She then makes friends with Jacob Black who turns into a werewolf. As it is the custom, werewolves protect the reservation from vampires.
