I wasn't sure what to expect when purchasing this book but having a dry run from my favourite authors I thought I'd give Jim Butcher a try. I felt it was surprisingly high in emotional content for a male author (sorry I know that's a bit of a cliche), I was expecting much more action and less emoting. The result was a very satisfying read, I was able to understand the characters' motives and reactions and was able to become immersed in the story. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys fantasy and suspense.

Summer Knight is a great addition to the Dresden files. Caught between the power struggles of Summer and Winter is not the place you want to be. Harry seems to have the knack at being in the wrong place at the wrong time. How he walks the fine line of being an unwilling champion of Winter and keeping on good terms with Summer at the same line is pure luck. Someone must be seriously after him to get him into these fixes or he has a guardian angel really looking out for him. Which is it? Well worth readying. I couldn't read it fast enough

The novel is ok. It's not her best work. It lacked the thrill and excitement. I'm still a fan, and i still enjoy one of my favorite non-human character,Jenks.

This is pretty much the Bible of the world of Middle Earth. It isn't written so much as a story as some of Tolkien's other works, but it has a nearly-documentary style, as if everything in it is real (and it is, for all the detail that goes into the story). Here comes history and mythology, all romantically tied together in ultimate fantasy along with all the proper notest that would attend any other historical work. There is not a lot of detail in the stories, but that does not make them any less wonderful. This is a chance to see thoughts and possibilities and so many other characters that fit into the Lord of the Rings universe. I don't think this is necessary to appreciating Lord of the Rings, but it's still a delightful and worthy addition if one can handle the way it is presented as more history than literature. ... First off, I've liked the Anita Blake novels, and have read them from Book 1, Guilty Pleasures. Hamilton continues to build on her characters through each novel, and I continue to be intrigued with the progress of Anita's relationship w/Jean-Claude, her vampire nemesis, yet companion, would-be suitor, and friend. I know that eventually they'll be in bed with each other, but it's fun to see how Hamilton will build into their relationship transitions.

In Bloody Bones, the vampires, zombies & lycanthropes are there. But then, Hamilton throws in a few faery characters, as well as gargoyles & trolls. Truly, all of these preternatural & magical creatures are unneeded to make the stories sing, especially when Hamilton has a 2nd series (Merry) that are strictly about the fey if that's what her readers want.

What I liked about this book was that is took place in the current century for the most part. And it was dark, very dark. Dageaus meets Chloe, or actually "ze french maid" and cannot stop himself keeping her in his lair in Manhattan. She of course is head over heels in love with "the older scottish the better" but due to his reputation as womanizer is not quite ready yet to be just another afternoon play.
I like the interaction between them how he wants to protect her but yet wants to devour her and is torn between those 2 raw feelings.
I wish Chloe could have been a bit more helpful for him since so much time was spend on explaining that she not only loves antiques and artifacts, but knows a lot about them too and speaks several languages. Instead she was more of a little flower babbling on, where she could have helped ... Read More
