In Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows I personally thought I could have predicted what was going to happen. J. K. Rowling completely got me on this one though. She brought up new and complex ideas and problems while still answering the old ones too. The Deathly Hallows was a wonderful addition to the book and clarified some things about some old questions I had. Some characters died and I was so shocked when I found out. Like, I almost cried for a couple of them. The final chapters of the book though are phenomenal, honestly the best chapters in the whole series. Nice job Rowling on this fantastic book, and Thank you for creating this series for all people to enjoy.

6.Where the Wild Things Are by: Maurice Sendak
1991-09
Average Rating: out of 5 stars

Books : Where the Wild Things Are
Briefly, the story revolves around Max, a young boy who behaves naughtily and is sent to bed without supper. In his room, he is transported to another world "where the wild things are" where he is made king of the wild things. After having his fill of leading the wild things, he returns to his room to find his supper left on his dresser.

This story strikes an interesting balance between the real world of Max and his family and Max's dream world "where the wild things are". Whereas in the former world his actions are seen as naughty and are decried, the dream world provides Max not only with the ability to act in the way he wants but also to have those actions sanctioned and praised by those around him.

Beyond that, even, is the amount of control Max can exert in each world. ... Read More

The title says it all, Eclipse. That is basically what the book rides on. I was gravely dissapointed with Outcast, but Ecplise is not much better. (Warning, spoilers ahead) I am sad that the swimming thing with Cinderpaw and Jaypaw was to short. Basically it was this: Jaypaw: Hey, let's go swimming! Cinderpaw: ok. Then they go to the lake a swim. Leafpool: What the Starclan?! Cinderpaw: oh, jaypaw's just teaching me to swim. Leafpool: Oh, ok.

It was too short, and i don't like how when the sun dissapeared for less than a minute, everyone starts freaking out. Omg, Sol! you are so smart! how did you know the sun was going to dissapear? Newsflash: It came back!

I like a little of Lionpaw's (im not using warrior names.) toughness. I like the secrets part of it. though i am sad that ... Read More

After all the buzz, I finally decided to give this series a try. It is shallow, linear, simplistic and boring. Don't buy this book if you are looking for something along the lines of Tolkien, LeGuin, or even Rowling. You will be sadly disappointed.

We love the "If You Give..." books at our house. Our 2 1/2 year old will sit through "Mouse Cookies & More" which has "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie", "If You Give a Pig a Pancake", "If You Give a Moose a Muffin" & "If You Take a Mouse to School" all in one, and then she'll want to read it all over again.

We were very excited to get a new "If You Give..." book, especially one about a cat (our daughter's favorite animal); but I found this story to be less charming than the others. Some of the transitions felt forced; for example, Cat goes to the gym and then suddenly wants to go to the park - I didn't get the connection so the book just didn't flow as well as the others I've read.

This is not to say my little girl isn't completely captivated by the book. We've had it less than a ... Read More
