I usually wait to read popular bestsellers to see if the writing quality holds up after the marketing's died down. But I picked this one up on the recommendation of a sibling's book club and devoured it on a long plane flight. I would never expect to be so engrossed in a theme of misfit (sometimes repulsive) circus rowdies and second-hand animal acts, but Gruen's writing style compelled me right into the narrative and once there, I had to keep reading to solve the mystery of what happened with the characters and why I cared! My only complaint with the way the story is resolved is that Gruen tried to do too much with biblical metaphors and clever double entendres. I enjoyed reading this book. For the most part, the characters are easy to visualize and follow. However, there are too many characters, which just complicate the story. I thought it had a good message regarding relationships and friendship and would recommend it.

Nora Roberts "The Hollow" was EXCELLENT! I thought I might not be comfortable with the "evil" in it; but her writing is SO good, I couldn't put it down

I love this book! I think this is probably James Patterson's best book to date. I love the way he draws you in to the characters and makes you feel like a part of his book. Also the way he takes an abstract subject and makes you believe. What a fantastic author!

I was very disappointed in the ending. After having so many chapters of depressing news it would have been nice to have a better written ending. I am still a fan of Nicholis though... just not one of his best

This book tells not only of a seemingly impossible, desperate love between a man and a woman but also of the endless and unconditional love that God has for each and every one of us. A really great read.

This is one of the only times I would say a movie is better than the book. But if you haven't seen the movie yet this is a great book. I like to read the book after seeing the moving to read what the characters were thinking etc. I enjoyed the differences of the book from the movie but I liked the ending in the movie better. It's a great rainy day afternoon read.

I'm so glad I read True Believer first, because I didn't know this was a sequel to it. I kind of agree with another reviewer that said the novels should have been one, but maybe Sparks wasn't planning a sequel when he wrote True Believer. I loved True Believer, hated for it to end, so I was excited when I realized At First Sight was a continuation. This book really made me think more about how important the little things are in life, and how wonderful it is to have someone truly love you.
