Another great book by Jamie Leigh Curtis and her illustrator Laura Cornell. I am a Childrens librarian, and enjoy reading ALL of her books to the children at story times! She really speaks to the children in a way they understand and enjoy.

When I was a child, one of my favorite little books was "If you gave a mouse a cookie...." To this day, I still have that book intact and in great condition. Kids will love this book. It's fun to read with little ones, and brings back memories. Don't know what it is about this book, but it is amazing. The illustrations are repetative, the text sometimes ridiculous, ("goodnight nobody"?!) But it works magic. It simply reads like a lullaby. My children have each loved it as toddlers, and number six is proving to be no exception. (We have bought her a new copy as our old one is falling apart from being so well loved!)

Didn't realize this was a mini-version of the book till I received it. It's about the size of an adult's hand (fingertip to palm). Doesn't make the best gift.

I previewed this lovely pop-up book at my 2-4 year olds storyhour, and one of the moms remarked, "Oooh, yes, but I think it's for adults." I don't have room for computers in my children's library -- and I think their use is usually abused anyway -- so I make a lot of pop up books available. I love the sight of children and their parents poring in fascination over the pages of a book. ABC3D has so much to offer. I love the way Bataille has conjured the shape of each letter, the way O and P become Q and R with the addition of a single stroke, etc. It's the kind of "Isn't the world an interesting place" that art has to offer.

This book was a gift from family, for our baby daughter. We started reading it to her at around 12 months. She LOVES this book. She is actually a very curious girl now at 18 months, and will grab books all evening long for me to read to her. Your little ones will be able to identify the different animals and even the colors soon after reading this book. It has a nice pentameter, thats just right for the developing LAD. I am here to order more from this author, and I am sure you will too.

My daughter loves this book and every night we HAVE to read it to her. The picture's are beautiful and she has most of the book memorized now. Your little one will love it!

Perhaps appropriate for discussion with an older child, but written and drawn for younger ones. Brings to mind cartoon Camel cigarette art drawn to appeal to adolescents. As a parable this story has power and merit along the lines of the song "Cat's In The Cradle" by Harry Chapin, but its presentation in a format for young children is totally inappropriate. This is a horrible, disturbing book.

I am convinced that children (age 6 and 2 - my great nieces) who are read to and children who read go further in life than those who don't. Part of this goes back to their parents. If you think it's too hard for your child to learn a new word, he/she won't learn it - and young children are like sponges - they soak up new information fast. Fancy Nancy makes learning fun. Little girls like Fancy Nancy. They love hearing the story and reading it by themselves. It's a no brainer. They think books are fun as you do, and Amazon.com is ecstatic too!

I purchased this for my granddaughter because my daughter wanted to read it to her! So, I think I bought it for both of them. All my children were raised on this and the other classic Dr. Seuss books. It's a fun thing to read for young and old. It gets the giggles going at bed time and beyond. What more can I say? It's a children's classic written in true Dr. Seuss style!
