This is the first time I've ever left a review. I've just got to offset some of those one star reviews since I'm sure that only 23 percent of the people who gave it one star actually read the book. By the way, I am talking about an inclusive 23 percent. I think this book should get at least 3 stars even from opponents of the fairtax. It's one of the easiest books to read. It's entertaining, funny, and just informative even to the person who hates good ideas.

Get the book and call your congressman.

Also, I have a recommendation for anyone who liked this book: Henry Hazlitt's Economics in One Lesson. You can throw that in your cart too since, if you're anything like me, you're trying to get to $25 for free shipping.

Distraction 2/5,education 2/5,inspiration 2/5: The story of small town America, with and without free trade is moderately compelling. It is 120 pages long and gives less perspective than the Wikipedia entry on free trade. There is minimal discussion of the newer ideas of energy flow in economics. There is no concern for resource depletion and no mention of population problems. Lower environmental standards are alright for overseas infant industries(It's alright for a two year old to jab a sharp stick in my eye until she becomes more mature).
It is good to specialize, good to consider opportunity costs, good to consider time as a resource. Was it good to export our oil at extremely low costs? Is it good to export our topsoil and the Ogallala aquifer in the form of grain? Wikipedia gives ... Read More

Yes, gov't needs to be halved - then again, and then again! America has become a land of gov't/tax parasites enforcing their bloated payrolls and pension deals on us "others - outside the castle." Throw them out.

Ayittey is an economist who remains very realist in revealing our much some African leaders have ruined their continent. The hope rely in the generation of Cheetah, ready to dirt their hands and to sustain the local capacities. The former generation considered as hippo who seat in chairs and ready to grab everything to the expenses of real life of the population. The development will come only from within Africa and not from outside.

After you read this book, get a copy of your state's Constitution so that you can start the other vital process and empower yourself - remember, the dismantling of this corrupt regime begins in your town, your city, your state. All of your real power is given to you in your state's Constitution. Holding officials accountable - that's the process we've got to start. Downsizing government - from local/state, and then federal.

Also, google Ron Paul.

The traditional international tax textbook (by Avi-Yonah, Ring, & Brauner) is god-awful. I'm not sure who the intended audience is but certainly not law students. At the end of the class, I realized I didn't understand the big picture at all. The professor recommended this book as a supplement. I read the entire text two days before the exam and got an A. I honestly could not have done it without this book. It's super easy to understand, lays out the big picture, and covers the most important topics. Do yourself a favor and read this text.

Books : Offshore Money Book, The : How to Move Assets Offshore for Privacy, Protection, and Tax Advantage
This book covers most of your questions and describes the basics for banking and corporations established outside the US. It tries to give you the pros and cons of each type of company and a list of places to look into. While it may not be the only book you'll ever need, it does a nice job of detailing what you'll need and how to go about the process of offshore management of finances and protecting your assets. It would have gotten 5 stars if it had been more recent. Still, its' quite worthwhile compared to what else is out there.

Books : Chain Reaction: The Impact of Race, Rights, and Taxes on American Politics
of American politics as we now know them today. After you read this book, you will understand what a republican is and a democrat is. It deeply explains what has happened to the minorities in our country and does make a good arguement how the 1964 Civil Right Act has been the catalyst to the current situation we have today. This book has made me more politically aware then ever before, and aided me in making a more educated decision of where I stand on the political continuim. This is an undervalued book on the market today, and is a great bargain for the knowledge it will give you of contemporary America.
