Ok, let me preface this by saying I am not a lawyer, nor do I play one on TV. Having said that, this program is terrific.

My husband and I are in the process of redoing our wills, as he is getting ready to retire from the service. However, the idea of possibly saving a bit of money (particularly in this economy) was very appealing. Enter WillMaker Plus 2009.

When the software arrived, I plugged it into my computer (a laptop running Vista). It loaded effortlessly. I went straight into the program and began creating a will. The image on the screen is very spare, but easy to read and understand. The input area takes up about 3/4 of the space, and the remaining 1/4 is explanation regarding the questions to be answered in that area.

This is the first time I've ever left a review. I've just got to offset some of those one star reviews since I'm sure that only 23 percent of the people who gave it one star actually read the book. By the way, I am talking about an inclusive 23 percent. I think this book should get at least 3 stars even from opponents of the fairtax. It's one of the easiest books to read. It's entertaining, funny, and just informative even to the person who hates good ideas.

Get the book and call your congressman.

Also, I have a recommendation for anyone who liked this book: Henry Hazlitt's Economics in One Lesson. You can throw that in your cart too since, if you're anything like me, you're trying to get to $25 for free shipping.

This is a really necessary book for anyone going into the renting business. Yes, it does seem like homework when you're slogging through it, but it really is readable, and extremely useful. I'm an accountant but never spent much study time on landlord tax law, but now find myself in need of that info.
Highly recommended, if only to maximize your deductions, and avoid traps.

I really hope that our government officials don't fall for the double-talk from the automobile manufacturers begging for a a handout, with the ongoing financial crises ripping across America.

This book gives you one good reason the government shouldn't bail out GM, or any of the other automakers. The [retired] and working union members of the UAW have nothing to fear (yet) since they're the ones sucking these companies dry with their greed, laziness and apathy for the dire economic events happening as I comment on this book.

Get rid of the Unions! They are one of the biggest reasons for the downhill economic slide our country is taking.

This is an excellent textbook and reference book on fundraising for non-profits. I recently joined the board of a non-profit and knew nothing about fundraising, but this book got me up to speed very quickly. The author treats you like a reasonably intelligent person, in contrast to some other primers that are too cutesy, and she writes in plain English and avoids jargon. It's packed with information, web sites, references, real-world examples, and recommendations. And it's up-to-date. If you're working for or with a non-profit, you need this book.

Books : Perfectly Legal: The Covert Campaign to Rig Our Tax System to Benefit the Super Rich - and Cheat Everybody Else
I read this book when it came to paperback a couple of years after its published date. I was so disturbed by some of the stories of freeloaders and tax cheats that I had to stop and google the offenders and to my surprise many of them are now behind bars for tax fraud!

No one likes paying taxes, but as a self-employed person I pay more than my fair share four times a year, and I am in the most likely group to be audited! So trust me I hate taxes as much as anyone.

But this book is really about the entire tax system and how it is broken and slanted for those with the very most. Mr. Johnston explains in detailed analysis going decades back into our tax codes, laws and rates and how over time the burden has been shifted from corporations and the extremely wealthy to ordinary working ... Dealing with the death of a parent can be very difficult. Emotions run high and feelings are in a state of volatility and turmoil. If this wasn't enough, there is also the problem of dividing up the deceased person's estate and this problem is compounded further when there is no will; no official document that says exactly how to distribute assets. Add to that the problem an adult child experiences when emptying out a parent's home that is overloaded with things, and you have all the ingredients for a highly stressful situation.

This is where The Boomer Burden can help. Written by a woman with plenty of experience with estates, wills, and other related issues, this book is intended to serve as a guide to adult children who want to do the right thing, honor their parents, and get through the ordeal ... Read More

The only thing The Donald supplies to this book is his powerful brand and two generic paragraphs for all this books in this series. There really is no thoughtful forward or anything to do with his insights. That being said, this is a pretty good beginners guide to the whys, whats, and hows of protecting your assets from the various income taxes, business taxes, estate taxes (the death tax), and lawsuits.

The author, J. J. Childers, is an attorney but writes clearly and simply enough for regular folks. The book's 17 chapters are presented in five parts. Part I covers the problem of excessive spending and a too passive approach to paying taxes. You can't build wealth that way. Childers shows you some basic principles on understanding the tax code and ways to use exemptions and deductions to keep ... Read More

This supplement clearly describes all the major topics covered in a corporate law class. I found it especially helpful in distinguishing between duty of loyalty/conflict of interest issues and duty of care/business judgment rule situations. All the rules are clearly laid out and show the reader when the various tests should be applied. If you are overwhelmed by the large amount of information you're expected to master in a BA/corporations course, this supplement will help you organize that information and give you some perspective on how to manage all the info you're expected to know.
I highly recommend this book.
Also, in case it's not obvious, there's nothing on agency and partnership.
