This book is so awesome. After I read it, I ordered five more copies to give away to people I love. Every page had something beautiful on it. I'd have to stop and put the book down and just breathe for a minute to absorb what I'd just read. The first few chapters are tragic and difficult to read through, but it gets so much better--it's so much bigger than I'd imagined. This story of pure love is amazing. I truly do wish everyone could read The Shack and get something out of it. If I had more money, I'd buy dozens of copies and share! And I wholly encourage others to do so. Read it and pass it on! It's soooooooo goooooood!

after reading this book, i am now aware when i speak and present myself to others. many people do not realize but during the course of a day, when we speak and present ourselves without thinking, the results actually bring people down instead of lifting people up. we speak negatively instead of positively. we try to get ahead of people thinking this will get us ahead in life when in reality, we get ahead by just working with effort and with an inner purpose. most people do not even know they are impacting others negatively. there IS a different way to live which does result in joyous living. The Power of Now hits its mark. People must learn to live in the NOW and not the past or the future if they wish to achieve true happiness. Mr. Tolle explains this so beautifully. This theme reminds me of my favorite book that also deals with the same theme of living in the NOw, Living The Secret Everyday: My Secret Workbookand is a great workbook tool and follow-up to Mr. Tolle's book.

Nobody can read this book and not feel inspired. I read it about a year ago when I was feeling down. By the time I got through I was filled with hope and Joy. I loan it out to my friends. When I do I purchase a new copy so my friends can have a copy too. I think everyone should have a copy.

I think Louise Hay has the right idea but the wrong message. The 1st chapter titled 'What i believe' is just Louise noting her personal opinions which some readers may disagree with, i know i did and so did a couple of other people who read this book. I for one do not agree with a couple of her beliefs especially the belief about that fact that we chose our parents, no one chooses abusive parents. I'm shocked that Louise who has experienced abuse in her life would put such a damaging statement in her book.To say that we manifest everything in our lives with the thoughts we think is ridiculous. Yes we do choose our cheating partners and disloyal friends and rubbish boring jobs and sometimes we see the signs or we hate our jobs and complain complain complain but we dont get up and leave but no one chooses to ... Just loved the theme of this book that in order to have personal transformation you must focus on your soul. You must love oneself before any healing can take place. This brings to mind The Secret (the Law of attraction) principles where you must be happy within inorder to have happiness outside. A wonderful workbook addressing these themes is Living The Secret Everyday: My Secret Workbookwhich gives you exercises to show you how.

His stated intent in the introduction is to "gently lead the reader in step-by-step sections into higher levels of self-understanding. I'm not certain this mission was accomplished with me. While I found some terrific insights and anecdotes to support them - I found too many sections obtuse (difficult to comprehend: not clear or precise in thought or expression), repetitive and circular in thinking. For crisp thinking and guidance with metaphysics, I found Eckhart Tolle, Wayne Dyer, Chopra, Don Miguel Ruiz - to be more effective. If somebody had to write this book, I'm glad it was Tim Keller. So many evangelicals who tackle this debate do so very condescendingly and without actually answering many of the questions posed by atheists, but rather by throwing out maxims and propositions. Now, I'm not opposed to maxims and propositions, but they have to be given within reason. I think this book should really serve as a primer for the discussion rather than a closing argument. In just over three hundred pages, Keller is only able to touch the tip of the iceberg concerning each argument both for and against faith in God. I would love to see many others pick up these subjects where Keller left off and continue the conversation.
