Today is the fourth of July, 2008. What we aspire to, what we celebrate, what we fear -- are so far removed from the reality of one man attending to the basic needs of all humans on earth. There is no terrorism, there is no war that does not find its roots in the two children who clung to the robes of "Christmas Present," so many years ago. These two plagues of "ignorance and want" - the children of humankind - are what cause war and fuel terrorism. Put your minds and hearts to that simple fact. Read this book and turn all the energy, wealth and good intentions of this country to affecting a real solution. This book and its lessons are a must for making ourselves and our leaders truly authentic and of value to the world and to our own county.

I think Louise Hay has the right idea but the wrong message.
The 1st chapter titled 'What i believe' is just Louise noting her personal opinions which some readers may disagree with, i know i did and so did a couple of other people who read this book. I for one do not agree with a couple of her beliefs especially the belief about that fact that we chose our parents, no one chooses abusive parents. I'm shocked that Louise who has experienced abuse in her life would put such a damaging statement in her book.To say that we manifest everything in our lives with the thoughts we think is ridiculous. Yes we do choose our cheating partners and disloyal friends and rubbish boring jobs and sometimes we see the signs or we hate our jobs and complain complain complain but we dont get up and leave but ... I have to admit that I did not finish this book. I got to the part where the author talks about really feeling his he-man roots and enjoys killing an animal. From a person who grew up inside a hunting culture, I can only say that from my perspective, he gets it all wrong. His conclusions are based upon an educated adult outside the hunting community and he assumes that hunting is "naturally" enjoyable. I can only say that my upbringing shows me that it is a terrible and terrifying experience to boys and that it is only peer pressure that causes them to start to like it in order to be part of the "adult" group. And then, they perpetrate this horror on their own children, and the whole sadistic cycle begins again. Please don't bother with his over educated conclusions, I think he just wants people to think he is "manly".

Good to Great is a great book for anyone in business. I was amazed at some of the less obvious lessons learned from the years of research as well as the simple truths that seemed obvious after they were revealed.
I am a small business owner with a professional degree but with no formal business education. It was good to read "research" that was not all stuffy and dry. A particularly strong point for me was the argument for why I should strive to be great and not just "good" or even "mediocre". I am planning on reading Jim Collins' other book, Built to Last.

What a great book! The concept of how we are encouraged and accept the idea of "being" a certain type of person "when we grow up" versus "who we really are" speaks volumes in the assessment test of this book's Gallop's test. My hat is off to the concept!StrengthsFinder 2.0: A New and Upgraded Edition of the Online Test from Gallup's Now, Discover Your Strengths

I love books, all books, but I especially love science books. This book was more than a science book though. It was inspirational. If you read through all the way to the end, then you cannot help but be inspired. Unless of course, you are a control freak. If you are one of those types of people, then you may be a bit discouraged to learn that your controlling ways are all in vain. But, if you are a optimist or an optimist in the making, then this is the book for you.

Incredible page turner, I could not put the book down this past weekend. I am using it as scripture not only for work but also for my career. I wonder to myself, if too many people read this book, then the secret is out, I won't look like I have all the answers.

The first copy I got of this book had a lot of typos in it. For example, one of the values in a math problem read "28" instead of "2^8".

There was another math example where they printed "=" instead of "-", which made the explanation incoherent.

I was feed up when they misprinted the Pythagorean Theorem: a2 + b^2 = c^2 instead of a^2 + b^2 = c^2.

I thought to myself, if I'm catching all these typos, I wonder which ones am I missing. Luckily, I was able to exchange my copy for a typo free copy. There were 6 copies of this book on the shelf at my local Barnes & Nobles, 5 of them contained typos like my first copy. So beware...
