It is important to give respect to those that have identified some errors and ommissions in the "Unofficial Guides." The guide is not perfect, and one might expect perfection from a reference book. That being said, no Disney vacation is perfect either, although we all seek perfection from this expensive theme park trip!

What the Unofficial Guide does is break down, in a very user friendly way, how to understand a Disney vacation and make the most of it. The authors also make an 800+ page book fun to read and explore and that is no easy feat!

From understanding resort accomodations, meal plans, those attractions that might upset your stomach, travel, moving about the parks, shopping, attendence levels, health and safety, pets, etc etc etc., the Guide makes these ... Read More

New Mexico, South Carolina, Montana, Vermont, New York, Virginia, and Maine are some of the places I have lived that are well covered and reasonably represented in this guide (with the East certainly receiving more attention than the West). Although anyone can name worthwhile places not included, or argue about the appropriateness of some of the places that are included, overall, the balance of well-known attractions and lesser-known gems is a good one. There seem to be fewer expensive hotels featured in this book than in the world-wide volume, but emphasis on restaurants is stronger--not a bad thing for those of us who consider culinary treats an important part of travel and culture.
As with her other "1000 Places" volume, this guide provides more inspiration and travel ideas than practical ... Read More

This book left me feeling very sad, and my heart aches for his family. Many young people do foolish things like Alex did. Some survive (like the author), and some don't. I enjoyed the insight the author provided through his research. I thought he did a good job collecting information from people who had crossed paths with Alex. I still don't understand what compelled him to such an extreme lifestyle.

This book is amazing. There are many Disney guides out there and this one has all the info from all the others combined. Yes, it is a huge book and it does not have pictures. There are other books for pictures. This book is jam packed with all the info necessary from the beginning stages of planning your trip to every aspect imaginable at Disney World.

I used this book to plan a 10 day trip to Disney World staying at a Disney World resort. Their reviews of all the resorts, parks and restaurants are lengthy, informative and all right on. I was able to choose the restaurants I wanted to dine at by their indepth reviews and charts.

For Disney I always use two books. This one is the basis for all my research in planning the trip plus the Passporter Guide which also has excellent reviews and ... Read More

I purchased this along with many other Disney books and found it a huge disappointment. It is filled with beautiful color pictures which is nice but the information is all extremely simple and not helpful at all.

Disney is very expensive but certainly a worthwhile trip. It is very necessary to do a lot of research before planning to get the most for your buck and from your trip. I highly recommend THE UNOFFICIAL GUIDE TO WALT DISNEY WORLD and the PASSPRTER GUIDE for extensive research, guidance on everything needed to plan an amazing trip.

For pictures of what you will see when there get this book. For me it ruins the surprises and some of the memories I want to make on my own.

Disney is truly magical and shop wisely for the necessary guide books.

I was just looking for something different than what this offers. The print is miniscule so you either have to have superman vision or be under 21 to easily read it. (Unless you carry a magnifying glass around NY with you...along with your umbrella, metro card, one dollar bills, cap, water bottle, room key, ID, garmin, cell phone, etc.) It has thousands of listings; mostly of places I wasn't looking for. It IS small and manageable. Something to read on the subway.

This is an excellent reference and is a good guide to points of interest and gives enough information to research each National Park represented.
The book doesn't cover every Park , but those that it does it does well.
An excellent reference.

From A to Z, this book accomplishes what I have been searching for for years! A guide/history/trivia book describing every land, attraction, shop, show, and restaurant in Disneyland. Not just the current ones mind you, but EVERY SINGLE ONE that the author could find to have existed in the parks 50+ year history. As a Disneyland fan since I was a kid it was a fond look back at some of the attractions I grew up with, and a good history lesson on all the rides that came before I first visited "The Happiest Place On Earth". Each item is listed alphabetically, with the biggest attractions and lands getting the most coverage. While most of the trivia and information has been written elsewhere before, it is nice to find it all in one place wrapped up with a bow! Some exciting extras include bonus lists and pictures, such as a list ... Read More

I tried to read this book, jumping around to this and that, but since this was a first family trip with kids many were not applicable, and others were just a bit too quirky or didn't grab me. The writing was great - very descriptive and evocative - and it gave me a great flavor of NYC before the trip so 3 stars for that. I really want to see the unicorn tapestry next visit though.
