The Pirate King by R.A. Salvatore is the second book in the Transitions Trilogy set in the Forgotten Realms. The first book in the trilogy is titled The Orc King: Transitions, Book I (Transitions) with the third book being titled The Ghost King (scheduled for release in October, 2009). 2008 marks the 20th Anniversary of the iconic character, Drizzt Do'Urden, on top of that the title of the latest trilogy - Transitions - is just that. A transition from the current rule set of the Forgotten Realms to the new 4th Edition. There are many differences in the new 4th Edition, some positive and some I will wait to make a definite opinion on. As an aside, if you have not read The Stowaway: Stone of Tymora, Book I (Stone of Tymora) by R.A. and Geno Salvatore you may want to do so before reading this ... Read More

We love the songs from "Wicked" (the play), so I bought this book, expecting a similar storyline. I flipped through the book before my 15 year old daughter read it, to check for content.

What I found was sexual depravity (bedhopping and worse), borderline bestiality (what's with the tiger and naked people?), incestuous tendencies (sexual ecstacy giving rescue breathing to 'son' Liir?), pubic hair color, warm feeling in a child's crotch, and not much of a coherent storyline.

If these things give you a 'charge', then go for it and read this thing.

If not, then either do not buy it or have your tome join mine in the trash.

We all know and love this story. In this special anniversary addition, the publishers have included a beautiful painting of Hagrid and the First Years crossing the lake by Mary GrandPre as well as a hand drawn sketch of Snape by J.K. Rowling herself. The dust cover art is of Harry looking into the Mirror of Erised (my favorite chapter). The book itself is covered in Gryffindor house colors -- scarlet with gold stars all over it. I'm looking forward to collecting all seven anniversary editions for my home library.

I was surprised by all the negative reviews. I guess I wouldn't of been reading the eleventh book unless I really enjoyed the series but I found it a total joy. I was thrilled to be spending more time with Richard, Khalan, Zedd, Nicci, Cara, and all the rest of the bunch. In my opinion Goodkind has created some of the greatest characters of all time. Please don't let negative reviews keep you from another chapter of this great series. I was very sorry to see the ride end for these characters that I have come to love.

I'm a huge fan of both Lora Leigh and Nalini singh's series. Nalini Singh is the first author and her's is wonderful. I do however wish it was full length as the female felt a little bit 2D with such a short story. However it's a must read for her fans.
Lora Leigh is last in the book with a rather short story, I wish it was longer! Both characters were wonderful, I especially liked the heroine. She took a different route from her normally aggressive women, not that there's anything wrong with her other women or this one. She's just little less confrontational about the whole thing. I loved that Chavin had jaguar spots, very sexy!
Unfortunally I kind of felt the two middle books were throw aways. I'm not a fan of either one,and the stories weren't particuarlly interesting.

6.The Magic of Thinking Big by: David J. Schwartz

Books : The Magic of Thinking Big
It is commonly said in the world of persuasion that
"Facts tell, stories sell". Many personal development
books follow this axiom. The authors of these
books appear to be following a familiar model
in order to sell us, the readers, on their ideas.

What do third-party stories do? what is their
purpose? Is it that we derive a sense of social
proof or veracity from a story told about somebody
else by a narrator who may or may not be reliable?

"The Magic of Thinking Big" follows a model similar to
"How To Win Friends and Influence People" -
brief illustrative stories which are held up as
proof for the author's theories about what makes
people successful with other people.

At the end of each chapter of this book ... Read More

Harry does have family! A "crazy" god-father that he is completely unaware of having until this book. A great mystery book in the series. It will have you wanting more!

Books : Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (Book 2)
This, the second book in the Harry Potter series, is better than the first, but not as good as the others. But that is just my opinion. In this book, Harry is beginning to wonder if he belongs at Hogwarts after a series of unfortunate events. I won't say anything else, exept that the series is a must read.

"Moon Called" is an urban fantasy about Mercedes Thompson, known as Mercy to her friends. As a "walker" Mercy shape changes into a coyote, and has friends of an otherworldly nature. The world she inhabits has seen the fae come out of hiding, so the populace knows that there is a little bit of supernatural in the world, but people like her, the werewolves, and the vampires are all still in shadows and not really out in the public view.

One of the interesting bits of the novel is that they actually track the coming out of supernatural creatures, granted it is in the background, but it certainly is refreshing to see the subject talked about as a present tense strategy than as a past tense "whee the world knows now!" Another thing I like about the novel is that Mercy is an auto mechanic, and imminently competent.
