I was really looking forward to this anthology, mainly because of the sookie stackhouse story. Perhaps this is why i found myself disappointed. While each story was interesting in its own way, the whole thing felt repetative and a bit dull. I would recommend finding it at your local library.

This piece of fiction is one of my favorites of any genre, not just graphic novels or comics. Sandman is compelling and original in its characters especially in the way Neil Gaiman weaves myth and traditions into an unfolding scene. There are very few books I can read or movies I watch were I can't either predict what will happen next or predict the end. With Sandman Preludes I couldn't predict anything and it was great to be taken on a trip with dream.

Which brings me to the five reasons for 5 stars:

1) The showdown in between Chorozone, the High Duke of the Eighth Circle and the Dreamlord. This was a very, very interesting twist on the old "shoot out at the OK coral." I loved it.

2) The reaction John Constantine has to Dream and then their working together to ... Read More

Briggs is super, and her story here does not dissapoint. The other 3, however, were barely disguised fantasy porn. 2% plot, 98% soft core sex scenes. Meh. Not really my thing.

I really enjoyed this book of short stories. I am an avid Laurell K. Hamiliton reader and her name was what drew me to the book, but I'd like to say that I now have added another author to my must read list.... Charlaine Harris. I have now read the first 3 in her "Sookie Stackhouse" series.I would recommend this book to anyone who likes vampires or stories of the supernatural.

This is a totally exceptional collection of stories. I found them to be captivating. However, these are not stories that should be read by either children or Prudes.

Ray Bradbury'
s book was something that I've wanted to read for quite some time. Unfortunately, I had already seen the film so I had a plot in mind as well as a mood. Bradbury as always strings metaphores together like we do popcorn on the Christmas tree. It's his main setup for atmosphere and that is the books great strength. Unfortunately for me, the characters of Will, Jim and Will's Dad are flat, underdeveloped and dull. Without a back story, I really don't have a sense of caring for the characters and as hard as I tried that didn't change. This was typical of Dickens at times. He created characters and then threw them into the story for development. I never found this technique particularly inviting for me.
The story is simple enough -- a carnival comes to town creating strange and bizarre ... Read More

8.Prodigal Summer from: Recorded Books

I picked this book up at a Starbucks trading table not expecting much.

From beginning to end I thoroughly enjoyed it. I really liked the alternating chapters covering different people who were all interesting and so well developed by the author character-wise. I loved them all and especially how the author cleverly intertwined their lives at the end.

This is a book I will read again.
