1.Are You There Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea by: Chelsea Handler

Handler does a great job with this collection of essays. I was looking for a Burrough's type of book, but was pleasantly surprised with her own type of light hearted humor, that was laced with an alcoholocis twist. This is more of a humor book than one of addiction or vices, so if you are looking for that type of drama, pass this one up. Still it was a delightful read that will keep you turning pages one after another.

Tucker Max admits he's a jerk but he somehow thinks recounting endless vomiting sessions, discussing the many times he's acted like a shallow, abusive pig, and relaying the details of his bodily fluid excretions is worth a book. There are a few funny bits _ the Breathalyzer one at the beginning comes to mind _ but it all gets tedious really fast. It's frat-boy trash humor by a pampered kid who thinks he's being cute or profound, or something. You want to grab this idiot by the throat, shake him and say: "Grow up and care about someone else!" That said, maybe the book goes down better after a few shots of Jaegermeister. Better yet, save your money for the booze.

foot-note boy is a dud.
The essay about a cruise ship is not funny, not well-written and speaks volumes about the immature personality of the writer.
His much touted powers of observation are nowhere in evidence.
Hunter Thompson and Tom Wolfe did this sort of thing so much better.

This is not a children's book! This is nothing but propaganda! Good thing I decided to put my kids in Private School after years of homeschooling...This is what exactly going on in our public schools, they don't educate our children instead they're indoctrinate them of their RADICAL AGENDAS!...I don't wanna live in a MARXIST AMERICA! and this kind of books will do it...

As someone who loves zombie movies I thought this book was really entertaining.

However, I do wish I had borrowed it from the library instead of buying it. It's not the type of book that I think anyone but the hardcore zombie fan would really enjoy reading more than once. Your millage may vary.

Before reading this book, I very much thought from the title (and because at the time I did not know who David Sedaris is)that it would be a "heart wrenching tale" about some child who is physically unable to speak or doesn't have access to a decent education. It was one of those books I meant to get to someday, but probably never would. Finally someone clued me in. I read it in a day.
Sedaris's short stories are the funniest I've ever read. He draws on recollections of his own family to give us realistic visions of family and personal life in all their "rolling on the floor laughing" complexity. If I were ever to write a book, this is exactly like what I hope I would write.

Before I bought this book, I've read a lot of positive comments on it. And my anticipation was 100% positive once it reached me and the first page was opened. The language is easy to understand even to my not-so-fluent-English-speaker hubby. I recommend this book to those who want a light and enlightening subject that is close to us as restaurants patron.

9.Naked by: David Sedaris
1997-03
Average Rating: out of 5 stars

>>More Details
Books : Naked
Naked is a light-hearted collection of wit and satire, a collection of short lyrical stories from his life. Nearly every reader will enjoy the wit and humor. But thoughtful readers can also appreciate how Sedaris succeeds in easing us closer to difficult material, such as the death of his mother and living with OCD. Naked, however, is not completely naked. The title misleads. Sedaris, in fact, keeps readers at a distance that I ultimately found disappointing.
