I Was hesitant at first to read this book, but once I starting reading it, I could not put it down. I was, and still am, and advid Anne Rice fan and, though this is not in the same league as the Vampire Chronicles, it's good to see someone reviving the spirit of the Vimpire. Although this book, along with the rest of the series, are written more for the teen audience, I found it captivating enough for an audience of any age. I suggest if you have not read it, or are as skeptical as I was, just give it a chance!

This latest visit with the ebullient Fancy Nancy involves a class trip to a planetarium. Nancy, being such a sparkling star herself, can't wait to go. The idea of seeing planets and constellations appeals to her boundless sense of imagination. She and her friend Robert prepare for the evening by putting glow-in-the-dark stickers in the shape of constellations on their shirts, and baking star-shaped cookies. The kids orbit (a fancy word for spin in a circle) until they are dizzy. Later a rainstorm ruins their plans, but Nancy has a brilliant (a fancy word for very smart) idea: They'll hold their own night sky show! Using beach chairs and candles, Nancy, Robert and the whole family watch the sky for stars, planets and constellations. After Nancy makes a wish on a "shooting star" -- not a star at all, but ... The Harry Potter Schoolbooks are written as if they really came from the wizarding world. The box set contains just too books which are around 50-70 pages long each, but include interesting back-story about the world of Harry Potter with respect to beasts and Quidditch. The books are inexpressive and also 20% of the cost should go to charity. I would really like to see more schoolbooks come out now that the seventh book in the series has been written. Half-Blood Prince's Potions book anyone?

A friend gave these books to my 13-year-old son. This is his review:

Overall, I believe these books are a very good read. They are filled with interesting puzzles that will test your mental capabilities, and plenty of action. So, without further ado, The Mysterious Benedict society!

The first book is more of a book of puzzles than an action book. I thought the plot was interesting. It's about four children who are sent to a strange location on a secret mission.

What I like about this book is its puzzles and characters. I would definitely recommend this book to all.

The second book is more of an action book than the original. It is one of those rare sequels that are as good as the first. It's about the same four children, now sent to all sorts of places to ... Read More

It's been difficult for me to get into the Harry Potter books, having already seen all of the movies to this point. However, when the theatrical release of this film was pushed back into 2009, I thought now was a good time to try again with this one. THAN GOODNESS I DID! I've even started going backwards in the series.

What a great read. Rowling's writing is quite good. The scenes are very well described, and the character development is exactly where it needs to be. Rowling really makes you care about the characters all throughout this book (as well as previous installments).

I found the climax to be rewarding, and quite descriptive. I really cannot wait to see the new ideas in the book brought to life in the movie.

For those who've found the books difficult to get into, and have ... Read More

Ever since I first heard about Harry Potter, I have hated it with a passion. Filled with occult symbols, mystical garbage, and demonic influences, the Harry Potter series deserves to go in the trash can where they belong and the first book is no exception. No matteer what people say about this most horrible series, it is one of the biggest stumbling blocks to young children in that it teaches them how to become witches and warlocks, along the lines of cults such as Wicca.
This series presents one of the worst literary series of all time and deserves to lie in the trahs dump, next to the Twilight series, the hideous works of the evil Stephen King, the Inheritance Cycle, and many, many more. Two authors I can vouch for completely are the British C.S. Lewis and the literary genius J.R.R. Tolkien, both of which ... Read More

Read More
