This was a very interesting read and I was intrigued by the author's life from childhood until her escape to the Nethelands and subsequent involvement in politics there. However, I question Ali's complete disavowel of Islam and wonder if she, instead, should be condemning the oppressive cultural behaviors of Muslim extremists instead of the religion as a whole. For this reason, I would have liked a more in depth analysis of the positions that, ultimately, led to her leaving the Parliment and the Netherlands.

first off i want to thank malcolm x for his thoughts on race after visiting mecca.he saw that persons of all races got together to worship and were colorblind.i will see this man in heaven he saw past racism in america to be a great christian!also i would like to give a big F to public schools in america for not teaching everything about slavery and who was involved, for example it wasn't until i went to college to major in history that i learned the truth about slavery.the white man didn't just go to africa with a big gun and round up black people as slaves, they established trade with the local tribes who traded goods with tribal leaders who had their own slaves as spoils of war and traded them with the white man as just another trade good so the tribes that traded were africans tradeing off ... Waste your money to buy,
Waste your time to read.

Nothing is researched as it was claimed by the author.

You can not study Islam by reading only what you like to read, and translating it and intrepreting it in the way only you want it to be intrepreted.

Highly opnionated. Shallowly researched and deeply biased.

Everybody knows the authors opinion about Islam and the last of the prophets Muhammad (may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him and his family). None is interested in reading it because there are enough angry Christians and other opponetents of Islam going around out of the anger of loss to Islam their previous reputation in many spheres.

Those who oppose Islam are the haters, and this books proves how great is their hatred ... Read More

This book is a fascinating account of the experiences of a Muslim female physician, educated in the U.K. and America. What is amazing is that Saudi Arabia has been our 'ally' and formidable trading partner, but that 99.9% of have us have no clue as to the ideological and spiritual compass of the people of this country. We just know they are our 'friends' and that our 'friends' spawned a terrorist named Osama Bin Laden (then again, Tim McVeigh used to work at WalMart). This book gives great insight into the value system and machinations of this culture and its religion, and presents some historical perspective on how its modern day presence evolved. The book is not the first but one of the best narratives of the shocking disparity between men and women in Saudi society. Dr. Ahmed described her experiences with colour, insight, ... Read More

I loved this book, although I started it three times (over a period of two years) before becoming thoroughly engaged. After that, I looked forward to getting back to it every day and made sure to set aside a time and place to enjoy it, without interruption, as it took my full focus. I read the book first, then listened to it on cd's (narrated beautifully by Lisette Lecat). After sixty years of loving books, this one ranks among my favorites and I will enjoy rereading it many times.

The bood was interesting with some humor added. However, Deb exposed the woman to danger while in and after leaving Afghanistan. Telling some of these stories, whether true or not has put the women in a place to be further persecuted. I feel she has used her 'western-ness' to the extreme in some cases that could have caused casualties. One can not go into another persons country (especially one you are clueless about) and start standing your ground on things most women would be beaten for. What saved her was the fact that she towered over everyone there. Having said that, I have a few questions. Why in the world would she refer to Afganistan as 'home'? As well as leave her kids to do hair in support of disaster relief? What is she really running from in the states? I feel she had low self esteem under that huge bleeding ... Read More

This is a truly scary book. One of the cover credits titled "praise for the author on RevivingIslam.com" reads as follows: "May Allah rip out his spine from his back and split his brains in two, and then put them both back, and then do it over and over again. Amen." The biography on the back cover tells a little about the author, Robert Spencer, and when it gets to the part where it usually tells you about his family it reads "He (Spencer) lives in a Secure, Undisclosed Location." This book has truly pissed off a bunch of Muslims. The reason? Spencer tells it like it is and lays bare their unadulterated desire for world domination and the subjugation or elimination of all unbelievers. Unless you faithfully practice the Islam faith, you are an infidel and according to Mohamed as written in the Qur'an you have three choices: (1) Convert, ... Read More
