Dont have a lot of time so I will make it short and sweet. I have always wondered things such as why Wheat and Corn made me feel tired. Now I know. Many, many other similar discoveries found through this book. Highly, highly recommend it!

Was I ever disappointed by this! When I saw the word "encyclopedia" I assumed that's what it was, and that it was going to be a good one. But the information within is terribly scarce. The author seems to have picked only his favorites to include, when really all stones and metals should (In my opinion, even if they're not expensive or popular) be covered at least in passing, and left out a variety of information about the materials themselves and instead talked about just the more common magical uses and folklore. Anyone looking for information on stones, crystals, and the like can get better than this.

The problem can be resolved by thier "stupid" customer service people, if you can somehow convince them that you have the correct CD. The Merck software is excellent, and the Cambridgesoft software running it is terrible, I feel sorry for Merck. It wouldn't run properly on my machine, I had to go back and forth over 4 days to resolve this issue with their outsourced (to India) technical staff via email. Apparently if you have a previous version of Merck installed with Cambridgesoft software on your XP, then you will need to perform some surgery on your Registry, and then install an update into certain files locaed on the C drive. Once you get it working, it should be fine. No doubt however that the TEXT Merck Index is EXCELLENT.

This edition the AMA encyclopedia (2003) is fully based on its first edition (1989), so the review of the first applies to the second. The 1989 had better illustrations on the whole, but their editors often included inappropriate depictions for no apparent reasons. This irresponsibility carried over into discussions particularly concerning ethical issues, such as abortion (unfortunately, this is something we have come to expect from the medical industry). It is evident the editors had a very large axe to grind when discussing medically induced death therapy that is applied to our unborn citizens. There was neither a mature discussion of the particularly disastrous effect on our black communities through America's legalized and ongoing killing of babies; nor a serious review of the more than ample ... It covers a variety of health issues, and is a very informative and educational book! I love it! I'd recommend it to anyone who likes bettering their health, in delicious ways. It also offers alot of recipes too!
