So far my husband and I have found this book to be very helpful, we have only had it a month and are both taking medical terminology. He's taking the class for a biology degree, and I'm taking the class for massage therapy. Every time we have looked up a word, it has been there. If it needs a picture, there is one. It always gives you the root word with prefix and suffix separated and what language the word came from. The thumb index makes it much easier to find pages quickly than the books that don't have them. The definitions are easy to understand and are oftentimes more helpful than the definitions in either of our textbooks.

I know everyone says this - just adding my voice. The author needs to define his terms - what does he mean by 'smart' when talking about the New Guineans. What does he mean by calling Australia 'backwards'? I wish he developed these vague/biased terms.

The 2008 AP Stylebook is a useful guide to any potential journalist. It is necessary to know the ins and outs of writing and nothing articulates it better than this book.

I love reference books. I had an editing job that required me to have "15" so I had the perfect excuse to buy it. But what a difficult book to use. I had to check a few relatively easy things, and one or two obscure things. If the answer wasn't where I'd think it should be the book directed me elsewhere, an elsewhere where it was also difficult to find what I needed. It sure looks good, but....

The Fiske Guide presents thorough information on a remarkable number of schools. In addition to basic enrollment statistics, this book provides up-to-date contact information for admissions departments, enrollment deadlines, a list of the school's strongest programs/departments, a list of similar ("overlap") schools for each college or university, and an in-depth discussion of academic and social life at each school. Well-researched and accurate. I am an academic counselor, and I refer to this book constantly. It is far superior to other college guides I have read. A must-have for anyone embarking on the college search process.

This is a very useful guide to different medications, being at the beginning of my nursing education it is very helpful to have this on hand to look up new drugs as needed. Highly recommended.

This book reads like having your grandmother orate all the great folklore, recipes, and wisdom as garnered from years of living in the country. Anything from making homemade taffy to choosing livestock. The book was aimed at transitioning people into country living as if an old friend were showing you the ropes. Think of this book as getting your medical degree in General Practice as opposed to Pulmonary Medicine. (You won't be an expert in any one thing, but will gleen 80% of what you need to know in all areas). There are other books that cater to specifics areas, but this one really glues them all together.
