While this work is a bit didactic, Wright lays out the logic and planning of the September 11 attacks as a part of a greater plan to purify Islam. He explains the origins of this movement from the Islamic Brotherhood in Egypt, and differentiates the international role of al Qaeda (if only President Bush had asked Karen Hughes to read this book and give him an executive summary). The Looming Tower is a must read for every Westerner who plans to go out in public, and for every Muslim who is not ultra devout and loyal to OBL. Once you read it you'll understand the thinking of another religious zealot, Jeremiah Wright (no relation to the author). And you'll understand why the war on terrorism will be waged indefinitely.

The authors do an excellent job of describing the events at the Pentagon following 9/11. I write for a blog on 9/11 conspiracy theories, and this book is a refreshing change from that nuttery, but that is not what this book is about. This book is about the heroism and professionalism of the military and the first responders. Every page will keep you interested, and inspire you with the strength of how these ordinary Americans got through this extraordinary and horrendous event.

This book is disappointing for a writer of Robert Scheer's eminence. It is mostly a rehash of newspaper articles. It provides nothing new despite that there is so much new material that could have been used. Ed Spievack

This series is the first literature by Karen Kingsbury I have read. I highly recommend this book, Return, as well as the whole Redemption series. It is true to life and captures the reality of the highs and lows of what we all encounter on a daily basis. It is a series that is an encouragement to living a life of faith not based on our own power.

I am the worlds slowest reader....I read the first 2 books in 2 1/2 weeks!!! I can't say enough great things sbout this author and these books!! The moral fiber running through this family is amazing and I think everyone should read them!! Be Blessed!!!

This is an incredibly disturbing book, but does dovetail with issues that disturbed me before I read it. I agree with others there are a lot of dots and not all are well connected. Nevertheless, I don't want to rehash what others have said, but make a few points. The WTC was struck on 9-11. The Patriot Act, one individual listed as the lead author, is over 340 pages, was passed Oct 24. One and a half months later. How? How can something complex be done in that time, especially with the confusion and activity surrounding those events. I have wondered if the Patriot Act wasn't already on the shelf waiting to be pulled out. The author points to the Daschle anthrax as being of CIA origin. "Falling Man" has the distinction of being one of those books that pulled a great tug emotionally while I never really understood what was going on most of the time. The characters are fragmented because their lives are fragmented. Their lives are presented as shards because the book opens with the twin tower attacks. It's hard to unravel and probably even harder to take if you were directly affected by the attacks. I was vacationing in Manhattan for the first time while reading this book and it was remarkably easy to place myself on the same paths of the characters I was reading. To be technical, this is the first DeLillo novel I've read. I started "White Noise," twice, and couldn't get through. I got so frustrated with the brainiac narrative that I just have to shelve it.
