This is the most moving, realistic depiction of JFK I have ever seen. Many will forever rant and rave over his personal peccadillos, but this man was a leader. His speech at American University, which was his way of dealing with Soviet & American feelings about nuclear war included the following. "For in the final analysis, our most basic common link is that we all inhabit this small planet; we all breathe the same air; we all cherish our children's future; and we are all mortal." I heard that speech as a young man. I am now 82 and it still rings in my ears. I was raised an avid republican, but I am proud to have helped vote him into office. His like hasn't been seen since.

I gave this book to my personal attorney. He can and is authorized to argue a case before the Supreme Court. Like me, he looks up to Antonin Scalia as great judge. What Judge Scalia says in the book is helpful to all new lawyers who will have to litigate cases. This book should be included in the curiculum for future lawyers.

There are several things about The Nine that make it an absorbing and worthwhile read. As stated in the dust jacket, Jeffrey Toobin has great narrative skills. He shows them in abundance when giving us memorable portraits of each justice. Furthermore, he does an outstanding job summarizing the most important Supreme Court cases from 2000 onward; and distilling the complex issues that each case presents re: abortion, affirmative action, free speech, federalism, and the death penalty, etc. In these respects, it is an ideal resource for the casual follower of the Supreme Court.

However, I am a paralegal well-versed in legal research, and am fascinated by the Supreme Court. I expected much more from the book, but was greatly disappointed with several omissions. First, Toobin did not offer ... Read More

One of the best books I've read all year. By taking the focus away from Nixon, an entirely different story emerges. One in which a new tragic figure takes center stage and redefines many of our preconceptions of the Watergate and its cast of characters. A great read.

I found this book very helpful in understanding features of law school that are important there but not necessarily taught there. It also is done in an interesting way, so that it's not just a completely practical guide to exams. It *is* practical, but it's got some intellectual content, too. Worthwhile for the law student.

Law School Confidential provides a complete and insightful analysis of the law school experience; Robert Miller covers everything from admission advice to making smart career choices. I picked up this book during my junior year of college, hoping it would help determine if law school was a smart move for me. The book, by combining the author's experiences with those of several other recent law school grads, gave me a comfortable understanding of what exactly to expect from law school.

By reading LSC I came to learn what a law school education would do for me, what it would require of me, and how to get the most out of the experience. Coming from a lawyer-free family, the knowledge and advice was priceless and significantly deeper than anything provided by my college's Pre-Law adviser.

The Future of the Internet and How to Stop It is a major work of business, legal and policy research that will be less accessible to most people, but important to those looking to understand the future direction of today's ecommerce world. Zittrain is both a technologist and a lawyer and he appears to be writing this book more to influence policy and thinking rather than proposing a specific solution.

This is fine, in my opinion, as Zittrain provides two important frameworks that define new ways of thinking about the net and its impact: the notion of generative technology and the idea that the value of that technology is moving from the network to the endpoints. The book describes these ideas and develops them into a range of policy and technical decisions facing business, political and judicial leaders.
