I'm a big Lynley fan, and I'm about a third of the way through Careless in Red. So far, it's a big disappointment. The premise of Lynley hiking along the desolate coast weighted down in grief was very promising. So far, though, he has played a miniscule part, and the other characters are not very engaging. I keep waiting to get some information about the murder victim that will make me care about finding his killer, but that hasn't happened yet, and his family is very unpleasant. Other good reviews I've read will keep me reading for a while - maybe it will pick up.

You don't have to be a fan of Deborah Crombie, or have followed the Kincaid/James series to thoroughly enjoy this book. Of course, as a fan of the author AND someone who loves the series, I couldn't wait to get my hands on it! Where Memories Lie is one of the best in the series. Crombie stays true to her characters, respects her readers, and delivers a solid story. Gemma takes the lead in this book, as she tries to deal with all of the facets of her life - her relationship with a friend and neighbor in need, finding her footing in her relationship with her own parents as she forges more of a relationship with Kit, and finally deciding on what her future with Duncan will be. In my opinion, Double Cross left a lot to be desired. I love Alex Cross, and my favorite will always be Kiss the Girls, but I still enjoy reading the series whenever a new book comes out. This book just wasn't very exciting. The Cross family was really left out of this one, as they seemed to want to put a lot of the focus on the new love interest, Bree Stone, who I did not find to be likeable in the least. It was worth reading, but not up to Mr. Patterson's usual standards when it comes to Alex Cross.

I had wondered what James Lee Burke was going to do with the aftermath of Katrina. Was he going to continue with the fictional Detective series? Was he going to just ignore it and come out with something which had nothing to do with that hurricane and its affect on the region. But, of course, vintage James Lee Burke comes out with another powerful novel which indeed dealt with one of the most deadly and costly national disasters in history. No one but James Lee Burke can weave a national tragedy and a fictional character which makes everyone relive those terrible images those of us who do not live in New Orleans experienced. James Lee Burke is the king of crime fiction, and, like always, his books are always worth waiting for.

i absolutely love James Patterson!!! In this 3rd installement of the women's murder club 3rd degree is a book you dont want to put down. Each chapter leaves you wanting more i couldnt wait to see the ending. The part I did not expect was when they killed off the d.a jill. I didnt expect that to happen and although it isnt going to be the same main 4 characters I know he probably wouldnt have done it if he had to. so in all i give this book 5 out of 5 i highly recommend it
