I loved the books in the beginning better then the later ones. When I read 13 I thought to myself "How I have missed these characters" I still enjoy the characters but was a little tired of the reality game going on in this book. Not the best in the series but if you've read this far into it , you know you will continue.

Frankly I had begun to lose some interest in the Elvis Cole series as of late. I thought the last books focus on Joe Pike as the main character didn't work and I was wondering if maybe Mr. Crais had run out of ideas for his signature character. This book restored my faith as it is one of the better books in the entire series. The plot moves fast and the twists are solid. This is a quick read but nothing feels rushed as there are some nice character moments and insights into Cole's pyche. If your a fan of the series this is a must buy.

Lucas Davenport investigates the disappearence of a young woman (suspected of being murdered) and some murdered young people who are involved in the Goth ( Adam's Family)fashion style. The murderers appear to be one thing but are in fact something entirely different. Think schizophrenia. Davenport is also doing surveillance on the sexy wife of a lowlife criminal. There is some fun in that too.This is a interesting story with many surprizes and is fun.

I'm a big Lynley fan, and I'm about a third of the way through Careless in Red. So far, it's a big disappointment. The premise of Lynley hiking along the desolate coast weighted down in grief was very promising. So far, though, he has played a miniscule part, and the other characters are not very engaging. I keep waiting to get some information about the murder victim that will make me care about finding his killer, but that hasn't happened yet, and his family is very unpleasant. Other good reviews I've read will keep me reading for a while - maybe it will pick up.

What initially got me hooked on Stephanie Plum's novels was Grandma Mazur - she is a hoot! I found myself laughing uncontrollably more than once and there are very few books I can say this about. This book is short and funny and a perfect way to while away a summer afternoon. But I have to warn you there is very little of Morelli and the Rangerman...can't have it all!

You don't have to be a fan of Deborah Crombie, or have followed the Kincaid/James series to thoroughly enjoy this book. Of course, as a fan of the author AND someone who loves the series, I couldn't wait to get my hands on it! Where Memories Lie is one of the best in the series. Crombie stays true to her characters, respects her readers, and delivers a solid story. Gemma takes the lead in this book, as she tries to deal with all of the facets of her life - her relationship with a friend and neighbor in need, finding her footing in her relationship with her own parents as she forges more of a relationship with Kit, and finally deciding on what her future with Duncan will be.
