This is a must have for anyone who is familiar with photography and wants to move up to the next level. Scott has a great way of explaining things in a straight forward matter and making you understand the more technical side of this sometimes confusing field.

I think I have bought this book 5 times for friends who are getting into the field and would recommend it to anyone.

It's so simple and makes you understand what you need to do to know your camera

I bought this book after reading the first addition. This is the kind of book that I read cover-to-cover, and then a few months later, pick it back up and read again! Things seems to make so much more sense to me that second time around - after having some experience with what he covers! This is also one of those reference books to keep so that if you have a question about something, you can find it in this book. I don't like books that I read once and then it sits on a shelf. I like books that can help me again and again!

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone getting into or just starting photography!

Maybe I should have gotten this book first thing, but I just don't see the big deal about this book, It was somewhat informative, but really not much I hadn't already read online or in other books. It doesn't have any of those ah-ha moments or anything that just makes exposure 'click'. Since this book was recommended to me, I thought there might be some valuable info that I have been missing in order to get that perfect exposure and it just wasn't in there.

I think this book is probably ok for your first photography learning tool, but if you have read other book and online through forums and such, you probably already know everthing this book has to offer.

I used to be a PC user and have loved Elements since version 3 and Kelty's books on it's usage. I recently switched to a MAC for numerous reasons and purchased Elements 6 when it came out. I have purchased several books for MAC on its use but none where as good as the PC versions by Kelty. I wrote to his site only to be told that they did not have anything for the MAC and was disappointed. I happened to be in the mood to just try the book as I found that a lot of what was in his PC version 5 book I was able to relate to the MAC operations, so why not give his latest one a try. Once I got the book and started reading it it didn't take long before it told me that the book was for both operating systems...hooray!!!! thanks, Kelty and I love the step-by-step process and pics to get me thru a process...everyone ... I was little hesitant about buying this book given its cookbook step-by-step style but I was surprised how useful it is. The book covers most of the practically important functions and if you ignore or skip the "funny" parts, you will find yourself with one of the most useful books on CS3.

My main complaint is that the book puts too much attention on the Camera Raw. My second issue is the question of color space. The book essentially tells the reader to use Adobe RGB without much discussion of pros and cons. To make it even more clear where the author stands, he points out that the pros refer to sRGB as the "stupid RGB". Now, who would want to use something stupid, right? Since this book is clearly not aimed at pros but rather at casual photographers, it should provide a more balanced view of the color ... Read More

I think this is the most comprehensive book fro D300 owners. It has all the information for new owners that you would find in the manual, but it is laid out much better and is easier to understand with all the large photos the author includes. There are so many menu pictures you can't help but understand.

The D300 is different from previous Nikon DSLRs in terms of focus and metering, and the author clearly explains the differences and offers suggestions as to when to use what metering and/or af option.

Once I got the book, I couldn't put it down. As a person trying to break into the industry with a traditional animation background, it's good to know that Pixar still pushes "Old skool" style. The backgrounds are amazing, the artwork is spectacular, and their mission to let the animators "animate"? I LOVE PIXAR! I think this book is for the animator in all of us dying to get out and put their skills to the test. It explains obstacles you have to overcome when something is taken away. Storytelling through expression and art is somewhat of a lost art. Pixar has that magic touch to bring it back to the animation field and Im all for it! Chuck Jones once said about the Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies that you can turn off the volume to the t.v. and still understand what is going on. If anyone can do that I believe Pixar's ... I picked up this book in a bookshop when browsing for something else. I love this book! It is more about the "art" and "feelings" of photography and less about the "box" you are using to shoot the pictures. Many photography books I have accumulated I give away when I am finished reading them--this one is a keeper.

I recommend this to anyone who loves Linda Barry. This book is supposedto be a condensed version of her wrtining workshop. Mostly, it is L. B. collages and drawings. It explores many of the issues that arise during the creative process.
