After reading the first page I knew that the critics would be swarming. The fresh approach to the dilemma of pain and the revolutionary way of presenting God as present with us, was an invitation to those who desire to reduce God to the dimensions of our physical reality and traditional understanding to join the critics. I order this item and it said that it was out of stock and I receive it 2 weeks latter. I thoght that for out of stock items I was going to wait at lest 3 weeks.

I became a huge fan of Apple after purchasing a Powerbook in 2005. Unknowingly I became a disciple of Steve Jobs in doing so, and have become increasingly loyal to the brand as result. When purchasing the book iCon, I simply wanted to have a book about Steve Jobs that was as current as possible given the aggressive way the company promotes new products that revolutionize their market. I really really enjoyed this book. As noted in previous reviews it does have some redundancy if you've read early books about Jobs, but as a new member to the Apple World it was all quite compelling. This book is absolutely rife with grammatical and spelling errors. If poor editing (or, more likely in this case, NO editing) bothers you, do NOT buy this book, as you will be too distracted by the numerous errors to concentrate on the content. Here are some of the more blatant examples from chapter 70: Paraneoplastic's Disorders; Endocrine's Disorders; Neurologic's Disorders; Hematologic's Disorders; Dermatologic's Disorders. Please, people -- it's called spell check, or use your half of a brain and hire a real editor.

The seller claimed to have sent this book overnight on Friday for a price of $77.69 for shipment, but I didn't get the book till the following Thursday. Either they have a defective mail system, or the seller did not mail it out on time as a responsible seller should.

If you want a good beggining to the historical bible, this will not lead you astray. Full of useful information and unbiased in it's approach, by far the best book of it's kind that I have come across.

Young's book works well if you are teaching a class on a budget, as it sells for half the price of the most-often-used scholarly intros to world religions used in the colleges and universities. For the price, it is a good deal. The very few pictures and complete absence of color plates is a money-saver. The basic info is usually sound, but there are exceptions. For instance, Young says Yin is the dragon and Yang is the tiger. I don't mind supplementing a textbook, but I dislike having to correct it. The structure is not optimum. For instance, splitting Theravada and Mahayana Buddhisms (with chapters on Jainism, Daoism, and Confucianism in-between) is not the most logical conceptual framework for an intro student.
