This is one of the best books on wealth bulding I have even read and I've read hundreds of them.

It does a superb job of profiling key characteristic and behaviors that American typically fall into putting themselves deep into debt and then gives simple and easy to connect with ways to counter these behaviors to put yourself on the right track to financial independence.

Really, really great! Do yourself and your family a favor and read it.

The first chapter contains all the statistical information you need to know, and the rest of the book just rehashes it. This book repeats itself over and over and over, and the examples often contradicted the advice given. For example, the book said that millionaires often rely on themselves for financial advice and don't follow the herd mentality. Then it provided examples of how selecting financial advisers was extremely important. I'll give you some advice: walk into a bookstore, read the first chapter, and then put the book back on the shelf. The rest of the book is BS--an obvious attempt by Dr. Stanley to become a millionaire himself without providing anything substantive. He ragged on economists for not contributing actual work--he should take his own advice.

Books : The Millionaire Next Door
Over the years i have read this book about a dozen times. I find this book incredibly inpsirational, and a very interesting and educational read. For myself, it has changed the way my family has earned, saved and spend. However, I don't aspire to be like the millionaires in this book. Many of them don't actually enjoy the pleasures their money can earn. This begs the question, whats the point of all this money. Is money there just to be hoarded? Or is money there just to be spend (which is what the authors argue against.) Or could it be possible that the key to true financial happiness and wealth lies somwhere in the middle. Not spending needlessly and being disciplined while at the same time enjoying the rich rewards your money can give you? For ourselves, we (i believe) have been ... Read More

I never realized how easy it is to network with the high profile people. Like anythingelse, it can be learned.

Networking With The Affluent is a must read for all entrepeneurs, sales and business people. This is the book that your most successful competitors are reading, using and applying.

This book is definitely worth a read for two reasons:
(1) the subject matter is an area where there just aren't a lot of books, and
(2) this book says some of the non-politically correct things that most books / shows / people in society like to side step, but that its really validating to hear.

Like his other books, his focus is almost entirely on self-made women, rather than those who come from financial means. I was a bit startled to read that one woman's mother told her to pick a job working with men - not competing with women - because the work and pay would be better. Hadn't heard that from anyone but my own grandmother - and it's proven to be some of the best career advice I ever received.

On the other hand, this book did feel much less organized and ... Read More

If you're looking to become involved in personal selling to high net worth individuals this book will hit quite close to the mark. However, much of his data is quite dated from the early 80's. A lot of things have changed since then. For instance, he talks about which ethnic groups possess the highest wealth, but his data is very behind.

If you're looking for an overall marketing campaign strategy with an affluent target, I believe you'll find this book lacking in substance.

7.Environmental Law Handbook by: Thomas L. Adams, R. Craig Anderson, F. William Brownell, Ronald E. Cardwell, David R. Case, Lynn M. Gallagher, Daniel J. Kucera, Stanley W. Landfair, Marshall Lee Miller, Karen J. Nardi, Austin P. Olney

Books : Environmental Law Handbook
This handbook is an essential tool to anyone in the environmental field. There are always new additions, so having a recent copy helps but it's not necessary since the environmental laws don't change that much. I would recommend getting a newer edition when a major law has passed so that the reader can understand the impact the new law will have on their community. A copy can usually be found at either the public library or a law library but there is SO MUCH information packed into this book that I highly recommend having your own copy so you can hi-light the text and bookmark the important sections that apply to your business.

Dr. Stanley lays down a few key assumptions in this book and repeats them aggressively for one reason: He wants you to understand the fact that the strategies employed by successful salespeople in this market are largely ignored by the majority of their competitors.

One example (and there are many in the book): "Fifty top-ranked sales professionals spent an entire day together at a seminar. The seminar was held in a room within 100 feet of a doll auction. The auction was attended by hundreds of affluent prospects. Many dollars changed hands that day. Several attendees paid up to $40,000 for one doll. The auctioneers received between 10 and 35 percent of the sale price. Not one top-ranked sales professional who targets the affluent attended the auction."

Stanley is highly skilled in ... Read More

Books : The Millionaire Mind
"The harder you work, the luckier you become" - This has been the mantra of many millionaires surveyed by Thomas Stanley. The author has harped on millionaires' lifestyle, their habits, their attitude and some of their secrets for success. Of course, he corroborates them. I was surprised to know that millionaires were not created by trading stocks or playing lotto :) The content overall could've been condensed. Anyways, it was not very boring. I'm now more tempted to read "The Millionaire Next Door". I would recommend this book to people who wants to know some secrets behind millionaires' success.
