White instead of trying to tell the complete story of King Arthur, takes little snippets of the parts he thought were particularly interesting or wonderful and makes them beautiful and rich with life and meaning. This text has to be one of the best tools I have found for teaching skills. Everything Fred teaches makes sense, it's pure common sense! Even my Uni lecturers have all rated it highly and are considering using it as part of the course texts!

At first, when I saw this book, I thought it would be boring and incomprehensible. I was very wrong and it turned out to be a very interesting and dramatic book with a dark view of what the world was turning into. The Time Traveler goes into thousands of years into the future and meets 2 races, the eloi and the morlocks. The book wasn't very hard to read, contrary to what some people said, and I'm only 12. The ending was kind of sad and bleak, but other than that this book is fantastic! I would recommend it for more older kids though.

I have owned copies of the first two editions of this book and I was impressed with the updates to this third edition. There are several new topics and the existing areas have been updated. I was able to use some of the statistical code in a production piece of software two days after receiving this new version. The website associated with the book also has a nice feature that figures out the header dependencies for you.

i ordered Up from Slavery because I thought I needed to read it. However, I found I wanted to read it. I recommend it for all Americans. It was truely inspirational.

If you are looking for light reading, or an overview of this topic, you probably want a different book. However, if you want a very deep, intricate analysis of the philosophical foundation for the Catholic Church's view on sex, you will find it here. He is incredibly thorough, and he starts at "the beginning," using philosophy and reason to explain the Church's teachings, not the Church's teachings to explain why you should behave a certain way. Very insightful and helpful to those who are struggling to figure out why the Church says what she says.

At the risk of being labelled a Philistine, I declare that this book is one of the most insufferably boring tomes that has ever made it onto my bedside table. I admit that I only struggled my way through the first 170 pages, but that was enough to convince me that I should not waste any more minutes of my precious life wading through any more of this drivel. I know, I have also been chastised for criticising modern art in the same way. Tracey Emin's "Unmade Bed" and Thomas Mann's "The Magic Mountain" will just have to live in the pile of junk that I fail to understand. I realise that I am in the minority, as most reviewers and professors of literature believe this to be a masterpiece, and probably the best book to come out of Germany in the twentieth century.
