Before you do, is a good title for my review. I saw this book promoted on the television and was eager to read it. My eagerness began to recede as I did read it though. The ideas presented on good decision making are very sound from a human perspective. But, from a spiritual perspective, they are lacking. Good decisions should come from seeking God's will and applying His written Word to life. This is the basis for a believer. That is not what the book builds upon. The book builds upon human philosphy. There is very little to no Scripture in the work either. To my suprise, there is also eastern religion, philosphy, and stories included. I am a T.D. Some women compare this to Woman thou Art Loosed; however, I see it as more of a open truth about how men feel but don't share. Jakes speaks of his experiences, as well as, compares how other men relate to life's struggles, disappointments and really how not to stay in the pit of feeling horrible from what seems a finality of what they see. Life is a struggle for men and women, but women seem to shake it off because we will cry and scream. Men tend to grow bitter and hold on to past hurts in a different type of resentment. I appreciated the care he took to separate the emotions in each chapter. It is a good read.

I hurt my back 8yrs ago & had 6 family members pass every year except! for the last 2!, so lets just say I "reallllly" am having issues with "The Man Upstairs" to say the least :-) I already have a Bible(NIV), but thought I would get this one since it was for women & see if I could get more? from reading his "woman bible". I haven't read the whole thing(still in Genesis!, but I'm trying!), but the pages & quotes that he has are worth reading this bible, especially for someone like me who have LOTS of questions & not many answers yet.......but if anyone can make me a believer & help me thru all these bad times, it is T.D. Jakes(Joyce Meyers to!)

This was a wonderful book. The main character, David, gave me hope and inspiration, though I thought his wife was a bit annoying. Though I had hoped the book would end differently, the ending was satisfying and left me pleased. I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a good story.

I'm not finished with the boook yet but I found this book has openend me up to some of the gaps in my development as a man and helped me to fill them . i would reccommend this to any man young or old. I have bought a copy for one of my younger brothers in christ and will be recommending on to my father.

I read this book and I was not impressed. It seemed very weak on spiritual "meat". Not to mention, it was not well written. It seemed to jump around quite a bit. If you are new to the faith, the book may be of use. If you are a more seasoned sister or brother, you will probably put the book back on Amazon.

Dr. Jakes, This book has really Blessed and inspired my life as a single woman. It has encouraged me to use what God has Blessed me with and share with all single women to keep their eyes on the prize and because you are single does not mean God cannot use you to encourage,strengthen and Minister to other single women. In a lot of churches we donot hear the truth nor is it taught the way it should be. May God continue to bless you and yours as you continue to brake strongholds. I was very impressed with the readings of this particular book. Biship Jakes gave real insight on the many experiences of men. Gave a well in dept analogy of the evil that's around us everyday. I recommend this book to be read by men and women...

The voices are beautiful, but too dramatic, Jesus sounds too, I don't know, sexy? Would like to see this as a video instead. I got a great deal and gave for gifts, but everyone felt like I did about it. Still may be perfect for others hungering for the Word. I have to say, I love my old Gregory Peck reading the old testement. Wish he did the new.
