I am a man of 70 years and in excellent health. I'm 5' 10" and weigh 150 pounds. I can still jog 5 miles and not feel tired or short of breath - even after two hours at the gym. My lab test results would suggest that I am a young man.

This is NOT genetic good fortune: My mother died of a heart attack at age 58. Heart disease and mental illness runs in the family on my mother's side. Alzheimer's disease and cancer runs in my family on my father's side. Fortunately for me, I was raised in Los Angeles foster care until I emancipated myself at age 15. In foster care, I hardly ever was fed meat or fish.

On my own, I simply had better eating hab8ts than most Americans For example, I don't eat butter or margarine. I hardly ever eat in a restaurant. I prepare my own ... Read More

THE CHINA STUDY is a powerful, compelling, controversial blockbuster which dispels many modern myths.

Drs. Campbell and Campbell expose the truth, gleaned from decades of research on nutrition and cancer. They draw heavily on results form the largest human study ever attempted; a group of 835,000 people living in various provinces in China. They de-mystify and expose the correlation between animal proteins and the incidence of cancer in humans.

It may come as a shock to learn that dairy products and meats of all kinds (including fish) can dramatically increase the likelihood of getting cancers and heart disease. The balanced diet from the "four food groups" proffered by the AMA may be a recipe for disaster. Consumption of all animal proteins can lead to a much greater ... Read More

Books : A Teen's Guide to Going Vegetarian
I first read this in junior high, when I tried being a vegetarian the first time. I loved it and I learned a lot from it. When I returned to vegetarianism as a young adult, I read it again. Although I'm not a teenager anymore, I feel the book is still a handy guide for making the difficult transition to being a vegetarian a lot easier. When people question the food you eat or don't eat and challenge your beliefs on the subject, it can be hard -- this book offers advice for what to do and say in all sort of situations, educates you on nutrition, and gives you basic ideas for meals. "A Teen's Guide to Going Vegetarian" doesn't assume you have a lot of money, time, or resources for food shopping and meal preparation (as teenagers and adults alike usually don't), so it's great for anyone who needs to be frugal ... Excellent, but expensive (they could have at least made it hard cover) report of the data from "The China Study". There is no real text or discussion. This is the raw data so you can do your own analysis.

It takes a few minutes to get used to the organization but once you understand the system it's not bad to flip around to delve into the details you want.

This is a great reference book. Great data for doing your own studies. This information would be more useful if provided on a CD so it could be electronically extracted and manipulated. Typing it by hand into your own software is tedious and time consuming.

This book is not something that very many people will be interested in.

Peep Show is an eye-opener. We wonder why there's so much meat in front of our faces. The industry has tricked us, the populous, into its cruel and heartless house of mirrors. We didn't want to go there, but our minds got weak, and now it's seems its ok to intensively confine billions of sentient beings in filth- and disease- ridden, windowless, straw-less, comfort-less, joyless intensive-confinement systems. Dear, dear...How did we let them get away with it? Shame on them. Shame on us. Dave is hero, people. Perhaps he's a martyr, but someone's go to do it. Medal of honor, for you, Dave. 101 Reasons Why I'm A Vegetarian
