I just want to say real quick that I highly recommend this collection to anyone interested in Captain America. All of the members of the team that created this comic series did a fantastic job with the direction and look of it. I honestly couldn't have been happier and to top it off, the price on Amazon is about the lowest I've seen yet. I searched all your normal placed and it was still $20.00 more than it is here. In my mind it's WORTH getting in every way.

You'd think a story titled "The Death of Captain America" would be the end for the series, but it turns out, surprisingly, to be a new beginning, a breath of fresh air. While Steve Rogers will be sorely missed, the book's supporting cast fill his shoes admirably. I got to say i'm probably a bit one sided on this book because Captain America is my favorite Marvel character. To tell the truth though, theres not alot of cap in this book. Nevertheless, I loved this book! I just finished reading it for the first time and I am re-reading it now. The art is absolutley (in my mind) amazing. In my opinion this book definitley lived up to the The Death of Captain America series. The stories were fantastic and once again, the art is awesome. If you've read Civil War definitley get this book. The writing though is(to me at least) very touching. When Iron Man says good-bye to Cap for the last time it really struck a nerve. Caps the end of a truly interesting time in Marvel's history. The reimagining of various X-Men characters, coupled with an updated history of many other Marvel icons, bring this memorable series to a close. This issue continues with much of the high drama from earlier issues and leads to many satisifying conclusions along with quite a number of tragic ones. A truly great read!

in volume 4 the age of apocalypse comes to an end in the issue xmen omega. however for some reason there are more issues included afterwards that really have little to do with AoA. the AoA series is great but i think these collections could have been better. they could have left out some of the stuff in volume one and all the stuff after xmen omega in volume 4 and made it into three volumes.

You mean to tell me after over 50 years of fighting in numerous wars and battling a plethora of sordid, odious, and sadistic villians one stealth villian's bullet finally kills the legendary Captain America? Well, it is written well, but not a believable tale.
