If you bought the two graphic novels of the Sinestro Corps War storyline this is a good buy as well. It contains all of the side stories and origin stories told/retold during the aforementioned storyline. And it includes an encyclopedia of sorts of the Green Lantern universe. The Lanterns, their villains, the Guardians, pretty much all of it.
But there is one problem. The side stories collected in this book are sort of chronological. They fit in with events of the larger storyline as it transpires, so it would have been best to have these stories put in the order they were released inside the two parts of the Sinestro Corps War graphic novels. I would gladly pay a few dollars more for each part of that storyline and have a more complete reading experience in two books than have one extraneous(though ... Read More

Books : BLACK GATE ADVENTURES IN FANTASY LITERATURE VOL 1 NO 2
Again, the second issue of Black Gate has a whole pile of stuff.

This includes perhaps the best magazine article I can remember seeing, where Rich Horton takes a look at interesting or important anthologies in the fantasy genre, and fantasy short fiction in general in a historical overview. This is peppered throughout with pictures of book covers, and magazines, and is overall really interesting, and I wish I had have seen this when it came out. Close to worth the price of the mag for that alone.

Lots on gaming, including a fairly extensive look at Orcs, particularly as player character, possibilities. Also, apparently there is a Gamma World setting White Wolf used to produce, speaking of blasts from the past.

In comics, the focus is on Alan Moore and ABC, which are highly ... Read More

9.Supergirl #34 by: Sterling Gates
2008
Average Rating: out of 5 stars

>>More Details
Books : Supergirl #34
Supergirl has been one of the hardest characters at DC Comics to script. In the beginning, she was a younger, FEMALE edition of Superman. Her story was pretty much the same as Superman's: rocketed to earth by her parents, adopted by a family (after a stint in an orphanage - due mostly to people pointing out that the Kents could hardly have just kept young Kal-El without explanation, although that would have been easily accepted back in 1938 when the strip originated), joined the Legion of Super Heroes, and ended up with super-pets.

Back in those days, Linda Lee Danvers (Supergirl) pretty much took the place of Superboy. She went through a lot of the same problems with maintaining a secret identity, friendships, and pesky villains.

However, when women's lib came along in the 1960s and 1970s, ... Read More
