This book was not only boring, I also didn't learn anything at all. I really struggled to get through this book, and thought many times about just giving up. I wish I had just given up and stopped reading it after the first few pages. It is also written in such a pretentious style - whoever uses the work "confrere" these days? Do yourself a favor and buy something else.

"I am a huge Stephen King fan - normally.

However, I have to say that this is one of the worst books he has ever written. I must add that, in all fairness, the writing style is vintage King. The story progression was terrific.

It was the ending that was so lacking it left you feeling like you had just fell asleep and missed the ending to a movie that was only going to be shown once in your lifetime. It was as if King came up with this great idea, an idea so epic that he had to create a story around it, but he never did an outline first; he had NO ending, no explanation. It's as if he spent months writing the tale and wracked his brain for meaning or explanation and, in the end, couldn't some up with one, so he just ended it.

He tried this at the end of his Dark ... Read More

The problem with most dogs lies not within themselves but with thoughtless owners who hog bedcovers, force dogs to make nice with cats and children, and think feeding time is something less than 24/7.

It's good to read a book that at last exposes the base self-centeredness of most dog owners, by which I mean of course all dog owners except myself. I still remember the day I was humiliated at a so-called pet store when I asked a giggling woman at the counter if they sold baby slings for dogs, so I could bring my dear pooch-pal Cassidy (pet is sooo demeaning a term) along for work and shopping. Alas, I was forced to try something with gaffer's tape, which did not suit Cassidy as well as I hoped.

Author Stephen Baker is my kind of writer, judging from other books of his like "The Complete Unfitness ... Read More

The New media Frontier serves both as a primer on the use of internet technology for churches and ministry, but also as a collection of thoughts looking to the present and future to discuss ways in which churches, ministries, and missions have been and will be shaped by the use of technology.

The first section of the book focuses on the `primer' element. The contributors offer overview and reflections on `new media' and the church, as well as beginner's guides to using blogs and other web technologies (video, podcasts, etc.) in a ministry setting. Much of this basic information was presented with few assumptions, and for those who aren't tech-savvy it could be a great resource to understand the "hows and whys" of new technology and media.

The discussions in the second half move beyond the basics into discussions ... Read More
