At gunpoint you couldn't force me to read the 9/11 Report. What Sid Jacobson and Ernie Colon have graphically done is truly innovative.
Not only does this graphic depiction tell the story, it is historically factual. It sets out all the findings, history, conjectures, failures and recommendations of the Commission.
We find out in exact detail the timing, training and execution of the terrorists in accomplishing their terrorist acts.
We look inside the four flights and simultaneously see what each one was doing all at the same time. Using the magic of graphics we follow all these flights at once.
Jacobson and Colon tell of the attacks in graphic clarity. They also show the history as outlined in the 9/11 Report leading to the United States not organizing ... Read More

Jacobson and Colon's After 9/11 is supposed to be a continuation of their first graphic depiction of the 9/11 Report. These two works are not of the same genre. The 9/11 Report was indeed factual and told of the major aspects of the 9/11 Report written by that Committee.
After 9/11, represents Jacobson and Colon telling us of life in the World after 9/11. This work, in which much of it I do agree with, is a look at the World with an editorial slant.
The Authors bring up the valid points of no WMD and the fact of the Bush administration gathering false intelligence to substantiate the preemptive attack of Iraq. What was the purpose?
Jacobson and Colon have correctly identified how America got into this mess and how we ostracized our Allies. Most of this adaptation is done very ... Read More

I was SO much hoping that a book on WRITING with NLP would be well written. And actually, the glossary-like Preface on Suppositions of NLP gives a very good summary. But these writers are going to help us become ENGAGING writers when they present concepts and strategies in such a tedious, unmotivating manner?

Oh well, having paid for the book I struggled through to find a few good suggestions for writers block, etc - but they were nothing that any good writer-motivational volume doesn't have.

Another annoyance: the description seemed to promise that the authors had done a systematic study of methods of Master Writers... I was hoping for something like the descriptions of how Grinder & Bandler studied Master Therapists in developing NLP. No such luck.

Now I look back ... Read More

Teachers are typically not the kinds of people who attend NLP seminars (I'm sure this has something to do with the high cost of attending a seminar coupled with the relatively small size of an educator's paycheck). For those teachers interested in learning a bit of NLP, this book is a very good introduction, and provides a lot of useful techniques and inspirational stories.

The stories are written in a very personable manner, and the author does an excellent job of allowing his personality to shine through without allowing it to get in the way of the material he is presenting. I found his exercises to be very helpful for discussing the strategy in regards to the most likely methods in which the teacher would be using them. In those regards, it is a fantastic book.

I did, however, find ... Read More

Interesting but more of an NLP beginner level book. Some practical guidelines.

It seems ridiculous - a "graphic novel" about the September 11 attacks. But it is far more readable and memorable than the textual presentations I have seen. I came away with a clearer sense of the timeline of that day and the 9-11 Commission's findings and reports than I had from newspaper articles, radio reports and New Yorker articles of the same.

Maybe because we are such visual creatures, the images help convey the confusing and contradictory events and how they connect to each.

The commission's written report has a lot more data in it. But if I quickly needed a fact or figure, I would grab this book first because I could find the information more quickly and easily.

I think its greatest value could be in reaching a wider audience. People who would take 1-2 hours to read ... Read More
