An interesting book. After many years, Kaplan and Norton have finally conceded that you can't do strategy in isolation from both its context or everything to which it applies. I think its called holism or systems thinking or whatever new buzz-word is currently in use to describe such things. The Balanced Scorecard journey has ended. The king is dead, long live the king. The BSC (and Strategy Maps) now reside as simple tools, amongst many, in a much bigger tool box - exactly where they belong. The art now becomes one of choosing the right tool in the right context. The flaw in the the Execution Premium is the same flaw in all these types of books: attributing success to a questionable cause at best, a false cause at worst. This is a comprehensive book on the concept of strategy mapping. It deals with strategy maps as a tool for communicating an organization's vision enterprise-wide in order to enable its better implementation. The book covers the subject in a very detailed but well-organized manner. Theoretical and practical coverage is well balanced. I strongly recommend it as a clearly authoritative source on strategy communication and implementation.

Great book! Excellent examples of different companies. It seems a little lengthy at times, but with many jewels of information throughout the book. I bought this after checking it out from the library; I want to keep it as a reference as I implement the scorecard at work.

I was looking for something to supplement Kaplan & Norton ... some different Strategy Map illustrations, etc. This book had been recommended by an acquaintance who had heard the author speak. I found the text to be somewhat rambling (almost like a folksy mind dump) and loosely structured. The examples and illustrations I was looking for weren't there. Maybe you had to hear the author speak.

This is the book that I have been waiting for a long time. It addresses the major issues about the calculation of the resource drivers. Because it is based on linear regression model, it has a more scientific base than the previous ABC method. It can also be easily integrated into dynamic Activity-Based Costing Simulation model.
