I'm with all the people wondering why there are so many reviews from people who haven't even read the book. You gave up on the series. We get it. Write that as a review for the last book you read.

Knife of Dreams picks up the pace considerably. I liked the past few books, but they had a lot more talk of doing things than actually doing those things. It's good to see plots being resolved(Elayne, Perrin, Mat and Tuon), and it was great to have new surprises(Thom's letter; I can't wait for that adventure in the next book). It's a book that builds toward the final battle. The end is upon us. Only one more book to go, and it can't come soon enough.

I have really enjoyed where Robert Jordan is going with these novels. I cannot wait to read the following books. If you like the genre and haven't read these books (like myself) do yourself the favor and pick them up!

And maybe worse.

Absolutely nothing of interest happens. For hundreds of pages. Just lots of skirt smoothing, and hair fussing. Oh yeah, and there are weevils in the grain.

I should stop here. Robert Jordan has used up all of the extra letters out there.

While we finally get a conclusion on the Bowl of the Winds (which started in Book 6), we unfortunately get a new situation with Faile and the Shaido (which lasts an ungodly 3.5 books!). While Crown of Swords started the downturn in the tight exposition, this was brutal in some spots. The Elayne chapters, along with the annoying bickering with the Windfinders, were nigh unreadable. What's worse, Mat is missing from the entire book (after a cliffhanger ending for him in Book 7). While Rand's scenes were interesting, there was really no movement for him in this book. A weak entry, and sadly, not the worst book of the series.

I really enjoyed reading while the narrator spoke to me. I got a lot more out of the material since this is the third time reading this series. Using the audio book details I missed previously jumped out and I retained the information much better,

My favorite used to be Dragon Reborn (Book 3), but after a recent re-read of the series the Great Hunt has replaced it. There are so many outstanding moments in this book: raid at Fal Dara, Rand encountering a Forsaken (and being trapped in an alternate world temporarily). There are several great emotionally-charged scenes: Thom's scenes in Cairhien, the alternate realities with the portal stones, Egwene with the Seanchan, Mat realizing his destiny...and my favorite-the redemption of Ingtar. What a tremendous book this was, how this wasn't my favorite before is beyond me!

The Wheel of Time series has lasted to 11 books so far. The reason being Robert Jordan is an excellent writer, and has made a great read with many complex plots twinning together. If you like fantasy books, you'll love this series. Have fun reading these.

Robert Jordan has created an incredibly disverse, and well though out world. There are several plots going on the intertwine with each other, and the characters are very complex themselves. There's a reason this guy has eleven books in this saga. Awesome read.

It was at this point that the WoT started to suffer from bloated exposition, and drawing out scenes that in the long run didn't amount to anything. What was truly annoying was the scene in Ebou Dar, where the narrative was drawn out incessantly over Tylin/Matt, the introduction of the Kin and the petty squabbling with the Windfinders. Also particularly annoying was the introduction of Casuane-am I the only one who felt her introduction was a little too convenient (after the disappearance of another prominent Aes Sedai in Book 5)? Along with Faile, Cadsuane has become another character that grates on my nerves. Also the Rand/Perrin argument should not have been off-screen (as it were)-that scene deserved to be told in real time, not rehashed from memory.

Despite those complaints, Ebou Dar has some funny ... Read More

Dragon Reborn really marks the end of the first phase of Wheel of Time, where the main characters were truly in adventure mode the entire time. Although I was disappointed with Rand's infrequent appearances, the other character viewpoints are fun and fast paced...all centered on Rand beginning to meet his destiny. Not quite as strong as the first two books, but still a solid read.
