i bought this book to go along with the guide to litrary agents. it was completely pointless. i wish i had returned it. it had nothing to do with what i was looking for and it was rather pricey, considering a new one will come out again next year. i needed something that was more to the point and easier to look up.

Bought this book. Has a ton of great information. My only complaint is that due to the size it is harder to find certain sections easily, as with any large resource book. A couple of dividers throughout the book would be wonderful. Overall I would deff buy this again. Buying it in this version allowed me access to their website for a year also. Great buy.

I am a writer and this is my second edition of the Writer's Market, which is kinda one of a writer's main reference guides to resources for publishing. It also has handly info on contests. I like the fact I can go to a particular section and read about all the different magazines and trade publications for that subject in one place -- many of which I did not know about -- and quickly assess what they look for and how much they pay. One thing, however -- you should always check to be sure the same contact person is still at the workplace -- editors are quick to dismiss unsolicited work and queries and if it looks like you haven't done your homework on the publication to see who is still on the masthead, they'll toss your submission or letter into the round file.

No book is going to give you all the tools you need to get published but this one makes a fair stab at helping - truly helping. My one complaint is they describe freelancing as this incredibly wide-open field for anyone with a modicum of talent, and a lot of perseverance. What they fail to point out is that to really make a good living, the way this book proposes, (to freelance periodical writers) one has to prostitute oneself to write about anything and everything. If spending the rest of your life writing to a health magazines about "10 Steps to a Clearer Complexion" seems worthwhile to you, than follow their advice. I have written many essays, stories, and forum posts. I have the ability to write clearly, but there is formating and business issues that every writer needs to know to get published. Then I became a teacher of young children. Silver Spurs visited our classroom and left a surprise and a Santa key in every shoe. Now, I am a grandmother and the tradition has been carried on. I love this book and treasure what it has brought to the lives of not only my children and grandchildren but, the hundreds of children that I have taught and will continue to teach a little longer. I hope that the Knigge children and grandchildren know the joy this book has brought.

I especially liked the acronym and the practical examples, especially Xenos, of what churhes are doing to minister to postmoderns. If nothing else, the book is worth these practical examples. I've read a number of books on the topic but this is the first to give me some ideas on how to rethink outreach.

Its about time that someone finally told us what to do about postmodernism rather than just what it is. This book couldnt have come out at a better time. I especially liked the acronym and the practical examples, especially Xenos, of what churhes are doing to minister to postmoderns. If nothing else, the book is worth these practical examples. I've read a number of books on the topic but this is the first to give me some ideas on how to rethink outreach.
