There are two kinds of people who take the Graduate Record Examination. Well, three, actually: Those who don't study for the GRE, those who take a course costing several hundred dollars, and those of us buying a book or two. Buy "Cracking the GRE." It is what you need.

I suspect those who take the courses get their money's worth.

However, "Cracking the GRE" is a much cheaper, quicker solution. It cuts to the chase, tells you what you need to know, and shows you how to figure out those algebra problems better than your high school freshman year teacher.

They teach you how to be organized during the test. And you'll learn how to draw sensible charts for the logic portion. This will save you precious time as you realize you have no clue how to answer number ... Read More

This is a good book for strategy and to learn the tips and tricks instead of performing the calculations. It had been a long time for me to go over high school/college math and I started with the Original Guide, then picked up this book to learn the tips and tricks. I intend on using it to finish my preparation again to raise the score by a few points when I am ready.

I purchased several editions of Princeton Reviews 2001, 2003, 2005 & 2007 and the content/test questions for the ISEE portion are exactly the same.
I called Princeton Review and they pushed me off to Random House their publisher. Random house admitted that they only changed the cover because the test has not changed, yet they consider the books updated each year. If you are looking for additional questions for your child, do not buy any multiple Princeton Reviews. Try a different company.

This book was awesome. I used Princeton Review to study for 2 out of my 6 AP classes. I had this US History book and the AP Psychology book. The two exams I used Princeton Review to study for, I got 5s! In the other 4 subjects I got 4s. This book is the exact tool you need to push yourself from a 4 to a 5! It's great!

This book is pretty informative about the 368 "top colleges" that they reference, but I didn't see much variation from the 2008 version of the book! The fact that they try to make you buy a new book every year is kind of ridiculous. Plus, I don't really think 368 colleges is enough-- that's only about 10% of the total colleges in the nation. Your hidden gem college may not even be available in this book. I also think that the personal reviews of the college portion could definitely be expanded. I'd suggest using websites such as [....] that have information from the actual students who attend the school, as well as up to date information and over 3000 schools available. I just simply think that the print version of college guidebooks are outdated and overrated.

I took the AP World last May. I mainly studied this book and 5 Steps to a 5. And guess what? I got a 5! Honestly, this book is good to study. It's detailed and organized well. However, the book lacks in actual AP World questions at the end of their sections. Therefore, you have to make sure you're paying attention at all times. The book has cheesy jokes to keep you alive though. Besides not having any practice questions, the tests in this book are nothing like the real thing. Princeton's tests are MUCH HARDER. I'd recommend both Princeton & 5 Steps to a 5, but if you can only choose one, go with 5 Steps to a 5. The book actually has practice questions and is closer to the real thing.

During the spring of my junior year in high school I took the SAT for the first time. My scores were a disaster... R-510 M-510 W-540!!! OMIGOD HOW THE F*** were these going to get me into NYU, my dream school. Over the summer I decided to study for the ACT which I heard was easier. I bought the princeton review book and the real act study guide and read it each book cover to cover. A friend suggested that i buy the sat math level 1 and 2 subjects test book as well to review my math. After a summer of constant study i took the test again and got E-28,M-32,R:29,S-30, and an Essay score of 10. for a composite score of 30! 4 months later i got into NYU early decision!!!

my suggestion to you: students who are struggling with sat/act tests

1. DONT GIVE UP!!!
2. buy the math subjects ... Read More

Great math review book. Remember, it's REVIEW. The book expects you to have seen all these material in class before, but it's teaching it in a way and only little bits of parts of it: ALL you need to get a 700+ on the Math 2C/Math 1C SAT II tests. It's not saturated IN-DEPTH, so you probably WON'T get a 800 (85 percentile) with this book ALONE. Expect a 700+ if you review the whole book and the practice tests at the end. I got 710 and reviewed the book every day for 2 weeks, and took the practice tests, on SAT math 2. Make sure you buy Barron's if you want a perfect score , because it covers the material more in-depth; this is just a review!
