I purchased this book because of the praise of other Amazon reviewers and I was not disappointed! As a professional in a very male dominated field, this book truly hit home for me - so much so that a few of the points the author made were echoes of comments made previously by my boss about my own performance. Women fall into many traps that undermine their credibility and this book calls them out, one by one. I can't tell you how often I'm on a conference call and use the words "I think..." or "In my opinion...". Men don't use these words. Clients often express that their executives, male and female, cannot get their ideas across effectively, cannot communicate well with upper management, or cannot deliver effective presentations. This book shows the difference between mediocre language and strong language and how to apply strong language in every area of communication - written, face-to-face, presentations, meetings, etc. While I don't agree 100% with Ms. Mindell's style and dress comments (a bit outdated), you can get past that to see the wisdom in the remaining sections. Even if you say you don't need help with your communication skills, I urge you to read through this book and test your assumptions.

My goal is to use the principles taught in "Language of Success" to help me dig myself out of my work rut and into a higher-paying position. Dr. Mindell's book is a "must-read" and a "must-do-what-you-read" book for every woman. This book should be required reading for every woman whether or not she earned a high school diploma or college degree.
