Although it is sad to say goodbye to these beloved characters, I have read that they will make up part of the background cast in another of Kingsbury's book serieses. In this novel, Dayne and Katy are building their family - not without complications. John Baxter is moving on with his life after the death of his beloved wife - again, not without complications. This novel reads okay as a standalone, but is so much better if you are already invested in the characters from previous stories in this series. Karen Kingsbury writes such realistic characters that as I read her novels, I find myself tearing up with the problems they experience. This Sunrise series is an especially good one as it deals with the Baxter family over a period of time. I can't wait to read the final installment that concludes the Baxter saga. I add a caveat, however; the author write in sentence fragments, and this Drives Me Nuts!

The beginning of the book and the subject of betrayal, could have been very depressing but I really wanted to know what the title had reference to. Whether this man could have been forgiven and the turnaround. I didn't see how so it kept me involved. I loved all the good references to family,their times together and their loyalty to their daughter and sister. Very surprising ending. I think it was very well written.

As a reader of several of Ms. Kingsbury's books and a huge fan of the Redemption series, I have to admit that the Fame books left me more than a little disappointed. By the start of the Sunrise series I had begun to wonder if the writer would ever return to her former "glory". But, thank God, with this book she has done it. With Summer she has managed keep the reader riveted without resorting to overly fantastical plot twists, and has brought us a touching, sometimes heartrending and ultimately heartwarming story of struggle, loss, acceptance and God's unchanging love in the midst of it all. Once again I feel as though I want to journey with the Baxter family as they navigate the road of life. Well done Karen Kingsbury! I look forward to reading the next installment...

The entire redemption series is amazing. It touches a woman's heart and soul. I cried and rejoiced along with the Baxter family. I recommend this to all Christian fiction readers.

This series is the first literature by Karen Kingsbury I have read. I highly recommend this book, Return, as well as the whole Redemption series. It is true to life and captures the reality of the highs and lows of what we all encounter on a daily basis. It is a series that is an encouragement to living a life of faith not based on our own power.
