It said the book was in great condition. When in fact the binding is broken, and there is writing in a good deal of the pages. I would rate it in poor condition. I was going to return it but I did not have time to wait on a new book and have time to wait for a refund.

Alexander's book reads like a standard history of property law turned upside down; it is as if the footnotes and text had been reversed. He glorifies obscure, minor, and in many cases simply bizarre theorists of American property law. Conventional wisdom holds that the winners write the history; in this case Alexander not only writes the losers' version of history but argues that they haven't even lost. The Restatement 3rd of Property is the law almost nowhere. But this text treats it with almost as much respect as it does the Uniform Probate Code. The reason? The authors have written a textbook devoted in substantial part to what the law should be. According to them. In my T&E class, the result was that I had to learn the law of the UPC, the revised UPC, my jurisdiction (Georgia) and the imaginative if inaccurately named Restatement 3d of Property (innacurate in that, in many places, it "restates" the law only as it exists in its authors' minds.)
