I enjoyed this more than any other book written on the subject! To me the author appeard to be very well studied on the subject with great insight of a more realistic view, but yet a very profound spiritual perspective. This book resonated with my own beliefs about 2012. It truly gives hope for a new and positive outcome instead of the doom/gloom in all other books I have read in the past. Good read for anyone wanting to explore the spritual effects of what 2012 is really about.

The Sinestro Corps war heats up with the arrival of Cyborg Superman, The Anti-Monitor and of course Superboy Prime. With a plot based on a prophecy from a 1986 story by Alan Moore, the story continues with the emergence of the Daxamite lantern, Sodam Yat. Imagine Superman combined with Green Lantern and then suped up after becoming the host of ION (some kinda whale looking entity that grants even greater power to one lantern member). The centerpiece of this book is the titanic battle between Yat and Superboy-Prime and it's a barn burner. (just as an aside, Superboy-Prime is now referred to as SuperMAN-Prime because of legal reasons but clearly he is being written as a boy so I refer to him by his old name). In this book Superboy-Prime reestablishes what we learned in Infinite Crisis, that he is just about ... Read More

In two parts covering different aspects:
1. Quality of the story - Lots of action, lots of great banner artwork of lots of heroes fighting lots of bad guys. If you know the characters you will care and know if so many who die really matter. To me they just seemed like a lot of red shirts.

These grand stories usually fail because they try to cover too much and use every character that ever existed. This series is far from being a failure, but it still left me feeling like something was missing. It does manage to establish several important milestones in the Green Lantern mythos, so in that regard it succeeded. The plot elements are all there, but the execution was uneven. For example, it seems like the power of the rings can be made by anybody since nothing is done to explain how Sinestro ... Read More

Well, first of all, I tend to purchase these series in the collector hardback (or paperback)version, so I will review this item alone without consideration to how it stands with other comic storylines. Although I may venture into comparing it (since it is from Richard Donner) to Superman and Superman II, and possibly Superman Returns.

The artwork in graphic novels draws me in, and this book proved no exception. The colors recapture the "Superman feel," and the panels remind me of a movie storyboard. Donner and Johns get back to the Superman of the first two movies, and I know I'm not the first to suggest that this felt like a Superman III.

Elements of the Superman mythology such as the Phantom Zone, Jor-El, Mon-El, and even Kryptonian history are given a tweaking and reintroduced ... Read More

Hal Jordan, the once-dead Green Lantern, is an interesting road-map of comic trends. Early in his career, Hal was portrayed as the perfect hero - most comic characters were. He was fearless, heroic, fit, and ceaselessly noble. But, as time wore on and America became less confident, Hal became a less confident character. No longer a 'golden child', his hair began to gray a little at the temples, and in one of his more touching stories, he travelled across America with his friend, Green Arrow, experiencing firsthand the problems with race, poverty, and drugs that he had never really paid attention to previously.

Time passed, and Hal Jordan eventually died in disgrace, after becoming the monstrous Parallax and tearing apart the Green Lantern Corps in his quest to rewrite time and save his home city ... Read More

My feelings differ from other reviewers of this title in that I don't think it is important to the telling of the Sinestro Corps War nor is it of the same caliber. Some of the art, especially Dave Gibbons', is exceptional. The rest, not so much.
I personally dislike the framing device of having a narrarator introduce the stories (ala the Crypt Keeper) but realize that that is a personal preference and not a flaw.
What makes the book earn a 4 star review (instead of 3) is the Secret Files and Origins chapter that rounds out the book. It is here that I heartily agree with the other reviews. Like DVD extras, it is bonus material that gives the story of the Corps some depth and richness.
All in all a worthy volume if you can't get enough of the GL Corps or are a completist, but not nearly ... Read More

I was a little confused with the story, but it was what happened in the book and with the characters I was familiar with that touched me especially with the death of Conner Kent aka this worlds superboy......before reading this book most info I got about the death of superboy was through wikipedia but when I actually read it and seen it for my own eyes I really did get emotional over Conners death.....it really was sad with this charater with still alot of potential, popularity
and interest in him......all in all , a very good book..

For all Legion of Super-Heroes Fans this is a must read, not only becaus it's a great story but it also allow Superman to re-establish his connection to the Legion. After Crisis on Infinite Earths way back in the mid 1980's the DC Universe was reorganized and the character of Superboy was lost in the process; this left the Legion on its own and there werre certainly good stories to be had but the only srories involving Superboy with the Legion were relegated to the Elseworls line which existed outside the continuity of the DC Universe. Even when reading an excelllent Legion story (and there are a lot out there) I always missed Superboy.
In Superman and the Legion of Super-Heroes, which takes place after Infinite Crises, the second reorganization of the DC Universe, Superman is contacted by the Legion for ... Read More
