I'm a new dad and I love this book. I'm a younger father (25-30 range) and this book's sense of humor and direct-style really spoke to me. The info is useful and presented in a way that will help you remember it. If you're an expecting father and want the basics with some nifty bonus tips, go pick this up. You'll have a blast while preparing for fatherhood.

Most people are afraid of something, unfortunately my phobia is pop-up books. This is a shame because, judging by the cover, this looks like a highly entertaining book.

I passed this round my family who tell me that the pop-up Frenchman (complete with beret, baguette and body odour) scared the hell out of Uncle Adolf, our familial Francophobe, whilst the monster phallus on page 7 was so large it almost took my Sister's eye out - definitely not for those of a phallophobic persuasion. Happily, she isn't one of them, judging by the size of her belly!

My 5-star rating is thus entirely based on their positive feedback as my rare condition (the correct medical term being pop-a-bookaphobia) renders my critical faculties useless in this particular case.

In the last few years,I have picked op several of these Pop-Up Books.I am always fascinated with the skill and imagination expressed by the creators of these books.Among my reviews,you will find some that I have written on them.I will list a few of my favorites;

"America the Beautiful"
"Alice's Adventures in Wonderland
"Winter's Tale"
"The Night Before Christmas."
"The Country Music Pop-Up Book"
"Architecture Pop-UP Book"
And;
"The White House Pop-Up Book";
just to name a few.

Each is somewhat different in it's own way. Some have very little text,as little is needed.Others have many inserts that can be removed.Some have tabs to "pull" to creat action ,and on and on.
One of the things that really ... Read More

In The Nobel Lie, Dr. Greenberg manages the near impossible. While enteratining the reader with a humor that's both deep and dry, he probes a medical issue that gets right down to the question of what is normality and what, if anything, it's worth. The implications ripple into religion, politics, law, morality, even the nature of consciousness and existence. His interwoven threads of reasoning and observation bring together homosexuality, hallucinogens, the Unibomber, and death. What do they have in common? Well it's a little hard to explain, but Greenberg manages to do it and even makes it look easy. He doesn't exactly answer life's biggest questions, but he renders them as palatable as popcorn. This is a good book for anyone who needs something new to think about. For others, well, there's always ... Read More

This book makes assumptions that are so not true. There are today the exact sites af Sodomon and Gamorrah. The flood has been proven to be at the exact time in history as recorded in the Bible. Every year more and more of the Bible places and Kings are substantiated. This author is trying and lying to disprove the Bible using myths that are orally passed down and have no truth at all. How sad that because ir is in print some will take this as truth.

All sand may look alike to most, but not to Dr. Gary Greenberg, whose microphotographic techniques outline and differences in each grain of sand. Sand from around the world is presented in a series of photos that reveal differences in colors, textures, sizes and shapes: accompanied by a detailed explanation of how each grain forms, this is a pick not just for art libraries specializing in photography, but for science collections as well.

This book offers a great overview of the subject, anxiety disorders and phobias, from a cognitive perspective. The book is divided into two parts, a clinical/theoretical analysis and a practical outline of the application of the theory in therapy, authored by Beck and Emery, respectively.

The book accomplishes its aim of laying down the fundamentals from a cognitive perspective, but does have some flaws. First, much of the anecdotal evidence is just that--anecdotal. Specific studies aren't often mentioned, especially in the second part of the book. Additionally, the book does not address the importance of approaching psycholigical topics from multiple perspectives. That is, the book does not inform the reader of the other perspectives. So, if you take a more biologically-oriented perspective towards ... Read More

9.The Bible Myth: The African Origins of the Jewish People by: Gary Greenberg

Average Rating: out of 5 stars

Books : The Bible Myth: The African Origins of the Jewish People
I read the 2003 edition of the 1996 book aka "The Moses Mystery".

In this book, Gary Greenberg focuses on the time of the Biblical exodus. Suggesting most prominently that it was NOT linked to the Hyksos (whom he identifies as the Amorites), that Moses was a high priest of Akhenaten/Akenten and that the Jews transformed the Egyptian pantheon into historical characters, i.e. the early patriarchal history mythology. Similarly, the 12 Tribes of Israel would never have existed.

This book is not quite as strong as Greenberg's 101 Myths of the Bible, but still recommendable to read, if you are interested in comparing unorthodox Bible scientists / Egyptologists. Usually, Greenberg seems to be more trustworthy than, say, Ralph Ellis. Yet, the latter's theory of the Hyksos representing not foreigners, but ... Read More

This is an excellent book but not new on the subject in any way. The original title of the book was, The Moses Mystery: African Origins of the Jewish People. Gary Greenberg did a great with this book. The African Origin of Modern Judaism, by Jose V. Malcioln is another great book on the topic. It's amazing that so many people these days are finally interested in indigenous African history and the origins of today's religions. After centuries of oppression, demonization and censorship of the history of Dark hued people, the truth is re-awakening. Like it was said, "Three things cannot be hidden for long: the sun, the moon, and the truth."

"Colonialism is not satisfied merely with hiding a people in its grip and emptying the native's brain of all form and content. By a kind of perverted logic, it turns to the past of the ... Read More
