Nola does an excellent job of reviewing Employment Laws in an easy to understand and concise manner. Human Resource departments could benefit by making sure every manager has this book and understands the content. They would save themselves a lot of time backtracking after the fact with when legal issues arise that could easily have been prevented.

This is NOT a comprehensive guide. If anything, it is a good outline of the issues you will come across. But do not consider this your single source for answers to the countless questions that will come up in setting up and running your small business.

I have an earlier version of this book and absolutely swear by it. I turned to this book originally because the attorney I hired to write the contracts did a terrible job understanding what we wanted. I ended up selling my business using the contract templates included in the book as well as many of the checklists. I'm not a lawyer and I easily understood everything that went into our contracts. In fact, the buyers of our business were impressed that we did all the paperwork ourselves and their attorney approved all of the contracts. Personally, I don't think I would ever take the "DIY" route again - but I know what it takes now! I don't recommend selling (or buying) a business without an attorney or CPA. This book has loads of good information. A great overview of and explanation of the good and the bad. Havent read other books on buying but cant see many being any better. Not the complicated style of other books. Great resource to have and keep.

This book is very easy to use. I prepared all of our corporate docs in no time at all. Has employment form and miscellaneous contracts. Only thing missing is a sample of a share certificate. This is a great book for small corporations.

I just started my own business and leased space. If I had not read this book I could have been duped 100 times over. There is so much good information in this book. It covers every major area of the process. It gives many examples of points discussed. It gives tips and warnings for you to avoid getting talked into a bad lease. It covers brokers, lawyers, contracts, and more. It does not give a sample lease because it says they are all so different and amendable. Read this or risk getting stuck in a bad lease for 3-5 years and learning the hard way you could have done a lot better if you were informed.
