This is an excellent text for students interested in understanding literature through reading, writing and responding. The book is written in a conversational voice making it user-friendly for all readers. The literary selections represent a wide range of works from classical to contemporary in various genres. This book is a "keeper" for students even after the course is over because of the high quality of the selections, the strong organization of the chapters and the accessibility of the content.

Have u ever been to a horse show and not understood why you pinned as you did? This GREAT book makes it so clear how the pinning is done! As a rider/coach for years I was never even aware of the exact details that judges look at but it's now clear to me that A LOT more goes into judging than most people think. This is GREAT for a trainer who is coaching kids to show or for someone showing. The author gears it toward all levels of riders... not just the top. GREAT BUY!

Fascinating story of a woman's personal struggles with dealing with ill family members (physically/mentally/emotionally). Unique writing style. 1st person perspective forces you to relate with the author throughout her battles. You are on her side, rooting for her, the entire time. I couldn't put this book down. I had to reach a part where there was at least a little relief from the drama. The author introduces just enough hilarity to get past the sorrowing experiences of taking care of her father. Well done. Poor editing, but it doesn't take away from the heart felt writing.
