When I found out we were having twins, I oredered three books that were highly reviewed on Amazon. They were okay, but this one was my least favorite; just written by a girl who had twins and was hospitalized near the end with several of her good "twin expecting" friends. I found her constant mention of it annoying, as I bought the book for advice and not to be scared.

There is certainly alot of information packed into this book, useful perhaps for the beginning writer. But like all writer's self-help book, it ultimately fails. The only way to get better at writing is TO WRITE! Stop wasting your time reading these books. Plus, this one is packed with too many "helpful" hints. A far better book in this regard is Steven Pressfield The War of Art.

I took this book as a Bible. I followed every step. The result was great--I'm published.

It's not a short process to create a proposal, but going through it helped me write a better book. The book's title is a bit narrow; there's lots of good information about how to use the proposal to connect with a literary agent.

When I meet authors who are frustrated about their inability to get published, I usually hear that they've skipped one or two steps. Don't. Follow through on all the steps.

I was looking for a serious guide for questions about raising my twin toddler girls. This book was uninformative and uninspiring. She doesn't tell you anything new that you don't hear talking with other moms you know. And her underlying tone through the whole book is you will be highly stressed out and pulling your hair out. Like we need to know that! Don't waste your money- stick to the experts.

"The Sell Your Novel Tool Kit" is the only other book you'll need to learn how to properly sell your novel. Why the only other book? Because I also bought "Manuscript Makeover" by the same author which I consider on par with "The Sell Your Novel..." book. Using both books has not only helped me to polish off my novel, but also how to market it properly. Learning how to write a novel is hard, but it's even tougher to sell it. Elizabeth Lyons is a master in helping you do both. I have many how-to-write books, but only these two sit next to my computer. No writer should be without them. They're gems. O. Earhart, author of published plays and short stories

I actually started with Lyon's "Sell Your Novel Tool Kit", but quickly realized I had not reached that point with my novel yet. So I backtracked and bought this book, which I have found to be incredibly helpful. Her approach is systematic and rational, while still allowing for the creative and inspired. This is by far the best of all the books I've read on writing fiction, especially novels, and it has in some ways completely changed my approach. She manages to be supportive and inspiring without getting sappy, and her experience as an editor makes her insights especially penetrating and pertinent.

Though Ms. Lyon generously recommends other books on fiction techniques within the text of her own, this title is the one absolute must-have for serious novelists. Its companion title ... Read More

I think this book is great; I enjoyed all of the anecdotes about the multiple society. Very good read although not very technically informative.

I have the Sell Your Novel Toolkit" and keep it within arm's reach because I find it so valuable whenever I'm ready to resubmit my manuscript. I was very impressed with the book's approach because I definitely got the feeling that Lyon has a sincere interest in helping writers achieve their dream. Reaching publication is probably more of a challenge than it ever was before, but people like her are an inspiration to not give up, and she shows us how to go about it in an easy to follow manner.
