Have your children or students ever told you what they want for Christmas and after hearing it you internally cringe at the thought of them actually receiving it? Well, in `My Penguin Osbert' one little boy's Christmas wish becomes reality and its funny to see who ends up cringing...

Elizabeth Cody Kimmel tells the story of Joe, a classic case of Christmas-gifts-ignored-syndrome, who decides that he is going to help Santa get his gift absolutely correct this Christmas season. You see, Joe wants a penguin, a REAL penguin; he has to be exactly 10 inches tall, with a black and white coat, a yellow beak, a beating heart, and a name tag that reads "Osbert". And when Christmas rolls around he actually gets one.

This is a very comprehensive & thorough review of Blumenschein's work.
Although it is not a "Catologue Raisone" , it is probably as close as you are going to get. It covers much information besides his Southwest period, which is very interesting. If you like Blumenschein's work, this is a must have.

This is another "must-read" for actors. This is the third and final book in his classic trilogy, and shows how to apply the techniques in his first and second book to creating a role. Very practical; this trilogy completely transformed my acting almost overnight. You do not need to have an instuctor to show you how to use this technique; much of it you can do on your own. Strongly recommended.

Books : The Chronicles of Narnia Complete Set (Radio Theatre)
The Narnia chronicles are enjoyed in this format. I have not read the books so I will not tell you they are perfect. The CD's gave me a chance to become acquainted with the stories. Different people play the different characters. It is radio theater.

i used this book for some lectures i taught second year undergrads in a biology dept at a big uni ... it is a tad expensive (like all text books) and i would probably try to pick it up used to be honest.. (the development text books don't change that much year to year ..) and in the usa the undergrads are not expected to be using primary research papers by the second year... all in all a good book of its type.

Young Fu of the Upper Yangtze was written by Elizabeth F. Lewis and set in Chungking, China. It is told in the first person and teaches about China in the early 1900's. Young Fu is a good book about a[...] boy (Young Fu) who moves to the city with his mother and becomes an apprentice to Tang the Coppersmith. He has many adventures and becomes a favorite in the shop. I thought it was strange that good luck seemed to follow him everywhere. I enjoyed the sarcastic and humorous remarks throughout the book. There are no very sad parts and I think altogether it is a nice book.

This is a story that takes you back to a time when the Civil War had just ended and slavery has ended as well. Virgie is a young girl who is trying to keep up with her five boys who go to school. She wants to go to school herself. Her brothers tell her things like, "girls don't go to school", "school's too hard", and such. Virgie is a very determined young girl. There is a lot of American history information in the story. It talks about things like, the Quakers, who were a religious group back in this time who had come over to America.
