In order to follow the recent presidential election I became serious about watching and listening to Bill on T.V. and radio. He often refers to his parents and the Catholic experiences that shaped who he is today. "Bold-Fresh" gives futher humorous insight into a fair and balanced, upright, moral, and sometimes obnoxious gentleman. He has great respect for his parents and the nuns who helped him define right from wrong. This book is an enjoyable quick read with lots of laugh-out-loud parts. The emotional softer side of Bill is also revealed....something we fans do not often see or hear.

Yet again Bill O'Reilly hits the mark with another compelling, must-ignore book. When you think about it (and let's not spin this) there are few contemporary writers more important to ignore than O'Reilly. The man, one must admit, is a giant in his own mind: he was the first to climb Mount Everest (or at least "was there"); fought heroically in the Civil War ("was there," at least, for most of that war's seminal battles); spearheaded the allied attack (and victory) against the Germans in WWII (or at least "was there"): marched with Martin Luther King and, more impressively, wrote most of Dr. King's greatest speeches; and presently holds "the true" world records in the mile, 100 meters and 400 meter hurdles. Regarding the present book, it clearly reflects a Nietzchean consummation of the man's towering ... Read More

This book provides a fairly simple and clear explaination of the constitution with examples of how it should work. It describes the history and the thinking behind the creation of the constitution and how it is applied to real life events. The real life cases are from situations that have occurred in schools which children can relate to. I believe this should be read by all kids around 7th grade and up.

Loofah Day

On September 1 people will go to any Rupert Murdoch owned facility and wave loofahs. September 1, 2004 was the night Bill O'Reilly made a lewd phone call to his Fox producer Andrea Mackris, and depicted a prospective encounter between the two of them in which a loofah played a significant role. Subsequent disclosure of O'Reilly's antics led to the public humiliation of the Fox News commentator and he was forced to pay an undisclosed sum. It's believed to be anywhere from $2 million to $10 million to ensure Ms Mackris' silence.

September 1 2008 is Loofah Day.

Ah, but the children's book here. Well I can't recommend it. But don't take my word for it, read O'Reilly's fan's reviews and "You Decide".

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone, regardless of political affiliation. O-Reilly manages to put into perspective what the real motivation is behind people's actions. Whether it's a family member, friend or political figure, he urges readers to evaluate 'who's looking out for you?' It's an easy read that left me feeling inspired.

Looking over the other reviews, it seems that people who like Bill O'Reilly give this book five stars, and those who despise him give it one. There is little point in trying to separate the book from his politics. The vast majority of people who read this book do so because O'Reilly wrote it. For those who despise Bill -- I am in this camp -- and read this book hoping that it will provide further evidence that Bill is a hypocrite of inferior intellect will not be disappointed. I find it incredible that there are people who admire Bill. When the Fox "News" people claim to give "fair and balanced" reporting, one suspects that they are metaphorically giving the finger to intelligent people who believe that good taste and honesty are important in reporting on important issues. However, Bill passionately insists that ... Read More

Watch the program but don't read this book. This book is just a summary of years of reporting. The book doesn't hold new substance and is just around to make money.

What he does in this book is to show interviews he had with powerful people. The interviews don't look as good on paper. He then criticizes them the same way he does on the program. He goes on and on on the program about these interview so if you watch the show regularly you know what this book is about and will be disappointed not to find something new.

I hate to say this as a fan of O'Reilly, but if you watch "The O'Reilly Factor" or listen to "The Radio Factor," there's not much to pick up out of most of his books. In this one, however, I think there are some beneficial pieces to read. In today's world, it's obvious that the person you need to be concerned with watching out for you is you. You can make your own breaks, or you can rot away in poverty on your own accord. But what O'Reilly does in typical hard-nosed O'Reilly fashion is to try and zoom in on the issue of trust; if you are able to build a trustworthy relationship with those who surround you, and with those who influence you (be it a boss, the POTUS, mayor, etc), your relationship will flourish.

If you're looking for O'Reilly to chew people up and spit them out, I don't think this one quite hits ... Read More

And Justice for Some is an eye opening look at the criminal justice system and how it treats rape victims. As former prosecutor and author Wendy Murphy relates, rape victims often receive little or no justice in America. In many cases, including for instance, in the Kobe Bryant case, the victim find themselves on trial in the court of public opinion.

Murphy relates some real horror stories such as that of Judge Eric Cashman who sentenced a rapist who had engaged in four years of systematic rape of a little girl to a mere 60 days in jail. Murphy also offers some interesting solutions such as having victim's advocates to oppose the defense lawyers in trials.

However, Murphy's advocacy on behalf of rape victims is tarnished a bit by her role in the Duke University Lacrosse Case. She was on TV frequently ... Read More
