We have 2 boys, and bought this a few months ago for my youngest son's first birthday. we choose to keep it in a screened porch off the back of the house, so have not used the umbrella. My 3 1/2 year old and now-16 month old love this table. they have had countless hours of fun. Sand and water will be mixed constantly (it took them about 5 minutes after setting it up), but that is part of the fun of it. It has been very durable, but has 2 drawbacks that keep me from giving it 5 stars. First, the water needs to be changed fairly regularly or we have found that algae grows in it. Second, that is not easy to do -- a lot of sand gets in the water side (at least on our table), and there is no screen on the drain, so all of the sand goes pouring out making a big mess. Based on all the good reviews, I purchased 4 sets of these for my 7 months old baby girl. I couldn't be happier. She just learnt how to sit-up and I don't want all those extra pillows around her. These mats are life saver. She can sit-up and play with her toys and I don't have to worry about her falling on head if I don't catch her fast enough. She feels safe and she can enjoy all her toys.

I have very mixed feelings about these blocks. Along with many other parents, I thought these would be a perfectly safe toy for my 2 year old to play with along-side her 4 year old brother. As it turns out, they are not firm enough to hold up to a still oral toddler. Our blocks, which have been used for just six months, are covered in tooth marks and have edges that are crumbling away. I definitely cannot fault Step2 for this, as they clearly advertise these blocks for 3 and up. However, I feel it's important to warn parents who view these as a safe alternative for their toddlers. I was one of those parents and now I only allow my toddler to play with these under my supervision. The handle tends to come off, but that's the only bad thing i can say about it. I bought it for my 15 month old and she LOVES it! She is young for it but she loves to put all the figures in the shoe and then take them all out again. If you child likes little people then this toy would be great for them. The figures are really cute. She'll grow into the pretend part...but for now she is learning how to open and close the does and different parts of the shoe. She love the little fairy noise it makes. I may get the iplay cottage down the road to add to her village...but having to pick just one I recommend this one.
